Things That Are Bothering You, Got You All Hibbeldy-Jibbeldy, or just downright pissed, RIGHT NOW! - Page 4927

Ability to take a punch is 1000000000000x more likely to make you good at boxing than your height/weight profile.

You screen out people that can't take a pummeling to the head and keep ticking, which is 99%, and then among those people the height/weight mix starts to matter.

I say this definitively as someone who played Nintendo's Mike Tyson game once.

The first punch you get to your noggin is... a weird experience. Even when sparring at 50% it can leave you wheeling and pissed off.

I drank too much brew to where now I'm "hopped up."

Unless you're constantly sparring I think every hit to the noggin is a weird experience. I can remember the first punch to the face I ever took, I can remember the first punch with a hockey glove, and I can remember the last time I got in a fight and took a couple of shots.

I hope to never get punched in the face again.

I'm not eager to ever to do it again, either, but I had a different (albeit still weird) experience. I'm discounting fights as a kid, when nobody really knew how to punch anyway. When I was in college I got jumped in the street. The guy threw a roundhouse that caught me square in the jaw. I remember that there was an immediate sensation of solid force, like getting tagged with a good shot in a pillow fight. But the next thought was one of, "Wow, that hurt a whole lot less than I thought. I guess I can take a punch. Good to know." The guy who'd hit me looked surprised, too.

Of course, that's probably in large part because he was stupid enough to sock me in the jaw. A good jab to the nose and I probably would have been crying like a little girl.

Except with more flushing toilets.

He might have the entire Toilet thread from PBOOTH on his lunchtime break..

Yup. I've been in a lot of fights, I guess I just was agreeing with A_Y and that even in a very controlled environment, it is not fun getting punched.

I only punch people in the face that I know I can easily knock out. You know, like old people, children, and women.

I am listening to the music of David Axelrod. It pisses me off because I'm all, man why wasn't i groovin' to these beats earlier in life's ways?

Further proving his point: a few weeks ago I was sparring with a noob. I even told him a head of time that I was so much taller than him I wasn't going to let him come in for a close shot and just to let me wear myself out (I have very bad stamina). Anyway, we start, I see him try to come in and I give him a good jab and he drops his hands and starts leaning in... I was like dude, no I'd like to continue doing this for at least one more round...

Hmm, when you told me earlier that you were into cockfighting I admit I had a totally different idea

I'm not a violent person, but I do want to slug anybody who uses the word "curiosities" in front of me.
How about people who say they "curate" "curiosities"?

then face + groin

I can't remember the first time I took a real punch to the face, but I'll never forget the first time I was headbutted. Right in the nose. That was unpleasant.
