I work with a lot of Dutch and I understand now why their churches are so austere:

They're too tight to have them decently decorated.

Can't let the cashier to think you're not too rich to care, right?

I think you need another "not" for that to make sense, no?

Bad news l'inc, just read that David Cross said that STL is the most humorless city in America.

David Cross Hates St. Louis Because of One Terrible Show at SLU in 2001

If you already knew, I apologize for reopening what I'm sure is a painful wound.

Yeah, but I was not in St. Louis in 2001. I think it's humor index would have to be higher now that I'm "on the scene" so to speak.

That's how it works in Penna? I've gotten called for jury duty in two states and both issue bench warrants for no-shows. Which isn't a big deal until you get pulled over three years later for a burned out taillight and end up cuffed on the hood of a squad car. Not that I would know this from personal experience.

Well, if you don't ignore the bench warrant and show up later you'll just pay a fine.

I swear there is a master list somewhere of people who want to serve and those who dont.  And they clearly pick from the "those who dont" list

My wife (who wants to serve) has never been selected.  I have been 3 times (only had to serve once but those 2-3 day waits suck)

I was called to serve years ago, and the day before I was supposed to report, a water pipe broke and flooded the courthouse. Hopefully they took that as a sign to take me off their list permanently

She's worth it.

Now my girlfriend is seriously hurt by something my mother said and was acting in a manner last night that I thought was rude to me. I brought it up and now she is mad at me. In frustration I decided to get involved and call my mother to say wtf? Apparently when inquiring with my mother about it it was a miscommunication through email or something and she followed up with her through email that I don't think my girlfriend got yet. I am so stressed out by all of this.

Thanks, dude. He clearly felt horrible yesterday, and he's not the type to be bothered much by illness, so it really bugged me to see him that way. He managed to eat real food at dinnertime, and by bedtime he was obviously feeling far better. This morning he informed me that he was "way much better."

I'm also happy to report that, as of right now, no one else is sick. I'm not ready to declare us out of the woods yet, but so far so good.

you know what the worst part is? You're a little stressed about the current situation, but more stressed knowing your mom brings it up once again a few years from now. It is part of the Catholic schtick.

You could also choose to have a little fun with it all. Call your mom and tell her that you and your gf are going through a bit of a hard time right now, but you wanted to call to say you miss her, you love her, and none of this is what the Prophet Muhammad wants for any of us.

Doesn't piss me off, but more like it just gets me to "Aww for Criminy sakes." I am happy for people when they develop new skills or do something new and interesting in their lives. But sometimes they go all in and adopt the identity of a person who's been doing those things for a long time and who has actual successes to speak of. I mean like people who start to go to the gym at the beginning of the new year be like "I was sleepy this morning no two ways but you know what as a Fitness Warrior I fight through the fatigue like a warrior bring Strenth to the body/mind!!!"
