I may be the first to complain about something being ready earlier than previously quoted. We bought new countertops, and we were told it would take 2-3 weeks after measuring for fabrication. I got a call today, one week later that they are ready to install. That's great, but we haven't decided on a faucet because the styleforvm Illuminati have opened my eyes to brands like Grohe. =(

My phone isn't working....won't turn on.

No lights come on, but it gets warm when plugged into a charger, so I don't think the charging port is broken...but the buttons are unresponsive and no reset sequence has done anything.

I can get a replacement for $100 (and it should be new, not a refurb, since my phone is customized)...so I guess that would get me a brand new 100%-life battery and an unscuffed casing, but I am still paying $100 to replace something that should be working just fine.

I feel you. Yesterday I had the windows open and when the breeze came through it was just a bit too chilly.

How old is it?

It is a moto X 1st gen that I got right at release. But this particular one is more like 11-months old since I got a free replacement over a SIM-card issue (but that didn't extend the warranty).

Not eligible to upgrade until september, although I might be able to push it sooner since I have switched to the new style plans where you end up paying for the whole phone anyways.

My problem is more that, I really like this phone--it is the right size for me, and I like Motorola's software fiddling better than anyone else... The new Moto X is too big IMHO (5.2" screen) and I did not like carrying the galaxy S5 at all. I don't think there are many very good android phones out there with smaller screens since they are discount models and all have specs that are worse than my late-2013 phone. So a $100 1st gen Moto X still looks like a pretty good deal to me.
I could roll with an iPhone 6 which is also a good size, but there are many things I like about android, I already own a bunch of apps, and I would miss my back button.

Oh, and it turns out that in the year since I last powered it on, my old backup phone has turned into a raging pile of shit.

Had to reinstall the OS to even get it to stay on without crashing, the battery life seems completely gone, and it has to be connected to power to turn on (may be related to reduced battery capacity, but sucks if it crashes and you can't restart it).

Isn't the S6 launching soon? I guess that doesn't help you today. What about the Nexus 5 if you want a smaller phone?
Eh, the Nexus 5 is about as old as the Moto X, similar usability performance, and has worse battery life (which is another thing the 2nd gen Moto X sucks at...the original Moto X was fantastic).

S6 is coming, but probably won't interest me. They seem intent on pushing "omg most powerful phone ever" over actual usability, and I already thought the S5 was too big to use with one hand (couldn't reach the entire screen with my thumb). Does anyone actually care if their phone records 4k video? I know someone has to push technology forwards, but come on...instead give me a battery that will make it through a full day and still be alive in the morning if I spend the night somewhere where they don't have a spare charger.

Otherwise I am just going to buy some cheap nokia with button input, gobs of battery life, and enough capacity to get exchange email, run maps, and browse some fractured websites, until it is time to upgrade and someone has released a phone I like.

I'll tell you I'm impressed with the increased battery life on the i6

Check out WaterWorks or lefroybrooks. Better quality and styling.
