Okay, I'm in Reykjavik. Which is always cold, and rarely sunny. I go to a convenience store, which is actually pretty far away, but not quite so far away as the "supermarket" (which is actually the same size, but moderately cheaper and doesn't sell booze) so possibly a relative-convenience store. They sell about fifteen kinds of sunscreen, but NO ******* COUGH SYRUP. I found a few things of mentholated licorice in the candy aisle, and thats the best I can do for coughdrops.

**** this country.

Told my girlfriend that we would eat dinner in the park tonight. I really don't want to anymore, but I don't want to be an Indian Giver.

I know everybody is eagerly awaiting the results of this conundrum. Well, let's just say I ended the night victorious. Oh yeah, and she ended up buying us both dinner. :slayer:

Last week my wife an I ate burritos and calamari from Rosarito's at the East River Park with the dog. They have that dog run area, I set up a whole thing on one of the park benches.

Rosarito's is meh (but does have good pure mexican food). It was still ******* hot out, and I would rather have been home lounging around with the A/C blasting, but sometimes you've got to make an effort.

the thing is you can set up a whole dinner/lunch picnic at central park/prospect and it'll be great, but places like McCarren/East River you'll be eating amongst starving hipsters, starving artists, starving teens from the projects and I feel like a dick while eating.

Usually if we eat at a park it is McGolrick. Much more serene and quiet. Unless there are some drunk bleeding Polish guys around.

We actually ate outside at Chimu, this seemingly hole in the wall by Union Pool. After years of walking by, finally went in. It is kind of amazing.

damn. wish I could just drop everything and ******* disappear for a year or so.

been there. Have actually thought it through, a bit.

Also just found out another friend of mine is in jail, and I don't know when he will be out, child support related. Probably the smartest man I know; however, having ten children with countless women is not very smart...He will be missed during this time.
Another friend just got out of jail - YAY, but his going back.
Another friend of mine looks like he is likely going to prison for a long time...attempted murder charge. He was like a father to me in my later years of high school, sounds weird, I know.
everyone is going to jail or prison

Yeah, new friends. Definitely. New friends.

Story would have been much better with an ethnic slur attached.

The damn ******s, they did prepare a meal that smelled like the excrement of a cat.

Where is the ethnic slur?

I mean, from his story it is pretty obvious that we are talking about Indians here but he never actually said that in his post.

I've never smelled Indian food that reminded me of cat excrement!

Just got a referee report back from a paper I submitted for publication a long time ago. Sometimes those referee reports are genuinely helpful, bringing to light flaws that I hadn't been aware of at all. But sometimes they are just stupid. "Author only treats issue x from point of view y." Yes you halfwit, that's because the paper is all about the validity of treating issue x from point of view y. In the business, that is called having a thesis.

Iceland may be famous for its hot women but it is a lie. Yes they are blonde, yes they are tall, yes they are skinny.

They look like prepubescent Norwegian boys. As do their "men".

Baby-sitting for drunk adult friends - I get drunk, but I don't need a babysitter, so why should you? I was hanging with a friend of mine who is twice my age at a bar tonight; he was already tipsy, and I guess that last Manhattan did him in. He starting talking with this crazy ***** who was obnoxious and stupid as hell; within the first lines of conversation she drops that she became a grandmother at age 36, and not much later - a convicted felon. Yet somehow, even though this friend of mine has a very good looking and loving 30 year old girlfriend, he still wants to **** her. This girl was nasty as hell. So we are outside having a cigarette, and she comes up and pulls out her left tit - telling my friend to "feel what a real nipple feels like" WTF WTF. So I go inside to get a beer, and I hear a loud noise - he is on the ground; she is kicking the **** out of him and then runs off when I come outside. WTF.
I pick him up and place him inside, and then she comes back ten minutes later saying to him, "I'll suck ********* to make up for it" and reaches into his pants..."I love you baby" she says. WTF. I get the help of the bartender and her ass is kicked the **** out of there.
I love Louisville.
