Got an email in the morning as im getting ready for work saying I'm to be staffed in Denver again for a three week mini project.
I was so angry and livid that I threw my badge across the room and broke it. I had complete road rage while driving and I even managed to drift my rental car in the parking lot as I turned and hit a puddle of water.
I was screaming and shouting in my car the entire time.
Wow. **** this bullshit. I'm so fed up of this city, this damn client, and of being told to expect one thing and getting the complete opposite. Seriously **** this *******.bullshit. this is the third time they've dicked me over like this. Three weeks in a row.

If I didn't have a contract tying me to the company then this would be the catalyst prompting me to search for another job.
GF, this is part of paying-your-dues as a junior associate. It sucks, but unfortunately, junior folks often get jerked around like this. Hang in there, and try to keep your emotions in check.

basically - and I am really good at finding rational practical solutions, which aren't the thing here. the solution is less practical here, more emotional

From reading what you have posted and also suffering from intermittent bouts of depression from 19 onwards, the best thing for her is to speak to someone. This will allow her to open up some space in her life and see the situation objectivity, its always to talk through her issues with someone who has no subjective connection to your life and enable you to devise a plan to get your life back on track.

The other thing is that I find is increase the exercise she is going get out walk more or go to a gym. Both of these approaches help me get the black dog back on the leash.

a little wife problems
my wife seems to be depressed. I think hitting 40, and having the twins starting school, is hitting her now. she is having trouble getting her housework done, she has little energy, she is spending her days playing vidio games and facebook/UrbanMom. which means that either I ahve to do my work and hers, or let the house become a pigsty. but more than that, I am worried about her happiness. both of her parents suffered from depression, but they also had sucky lives, I didn't think of this as a hereditary thing, I was thinking that they were brought up poorly and fucked up their lives.
so, I am not sure what to do. pushing her to talk to her GP and find a therapist, or just trying to push her to get back to routine. anyway, not happy.

Why would you post this online. If your wife finds out your talking about her in public she's just going to flip out.

She needs reassurance and a project to nurture and to exorcize her demon..
She needs you to be rational ,calm and steady because in our emotional storms we need a safe haven to survive..
Show interest in her projects and help to rediscover herself.
Working is always the best therapy because socializing , getting up ,having challenges is the best antidote to clinical depression.

This is excellently said Las, and advice you should take to heart Globe. Doesn't necessarily mean it'll work, but damn if its not a good starting point.

my uncle died this morning.

My condolences H.

i appreciate it, guys.

i haven't been able to get a hold of my cousins yet (his children) because we're in different time zones and they're obviously kind of busy. it really sucks for them because his eldest son died in a motorcycle accident 3 years ago

I found out what a pepper grinder does when you leave it on a stove burner that's turned on. Turns out it releases a giant billowing cloud of horrible black ash and smoke. :fu:

Fortunately I hit it up with the fire extinguisher ASAP and no real damage was done, but my dinner was pretty much ruined and there was/is particulate ash all over the damn place. I spent an hour already cleaning and have more to do. Ugh. It could have been a lot worse. I still need to pack tonight for a trip, don't really have time for this.
