When we moved into the current house, I was astonished to discover that it used - no joke - 15 different sizes and capacities of bulbs. FIFTEEN.

actually not all that surprising, is it?

15 is a lot, I guess. 10 seems like it would be pretty easy to get to though.

fluorescents are ******* nutso. i practially have to take one with me to the store to make sure i get the right one.

Our prior house had three: 60W incandescent, 60W vanity globe, 40W fluorescent, for a two story house, including the outdoor lighting.

This one has two different outdoor floodlights, three different indoor spotlights, four fluorescents, track lighting, it's just mind-boggling.

I went to three stores this morning and none of them had Diet Mountain Dew. Diet Sun Drop is NOT the same.

I went to the store to buy a couple jars of baby food. The cashier expressed confusion at this, as she did not think I was buying enough.
1. The baby food is for my cat, not for an actual baby.
2. It is not the cashier's job to provide a running commentary on my purchases.
3. Speaking of products that certain unnamed persons might want to purchase in greater quantity: soap.

Is your cat a kitten or is baby food appropriate for all age levels of cats?

I'm pretty sure the people who designed the lighting in my condo were playing a big practical joke. But the builders didn't get the joke and installed it anyway. To change a bulb requires a 15-step procedure, each step of which risks destroying the fixture. Also, each bulb seems to cost two weeks of salary.

So, I'm assuming they're not incandescent?

:rimshot:

There may be some truth to that, but I haven't been running high mileage and have kept myself going pretty well on the nutrition front. A friend who also used to run marathons gave me a list of things to take and I was fine up until this week when everyone got the same damn cold, and I had made a stupid decision which put me into overtraining. (a 23-miler, followed up by 800m repeats on the track two days later). After that, I was hosed.
...

Interesting. I suppose it makes sense. Extreme exercise has to be very taxing on the ol' immune system.

My cat is 13, so her tummy sometimes doesn't function as well as it used to. When that problem flares up, I give her baby food to hold her over until she can handle her regular food again. (The vet suggested it.)

So, I'm assuming they're not incandescent?

Tell him to stop being a douche. Srs. I've told friends I'm not picking them up every single time we go somewhere. You're not in high school anymore.

A new guy started working yesterday at the office (I'm out of town on an assignment). They were there pretty late, 'til 10:30pm, and apparently he quit this morning.

not really pissing me off - my wife is PTA president. the treasurer had a baby in oct and stopped coming to meetings, writing checks, etc, so it's fallen on my wife. if you are not involved in the PTA you would be amazed at how much work their is. she sent out an email yesterday suggesting that the PTA elect a new treasurer to take over the job, and thanking the last one for her service, assuming that the last one had decided to quit. the last one sent out an email to the whole PTA saying my wife is going to hell for how she treated the treasurer. my wife finds it funny, but I know that it is bothering her.

I sent out the new componsation plans to my team this week. none of them are happy, even though the plans are good and reasonable. so I will have a week or dealing with thier crying and sniveling over it.

nice troll attempt.
anyway, what's pissing me off -- just got back a project review from my manager. it wasn't as great as i expected and that's because the project itself was a ************* project. in the words of my own manager, "we never should have taken on the project from the client." it was set up for failure (and it eventually did when we canned the project because it just wasn't going anywhere). anyway, all that **** trickled downstream to me and i didn't get the score i was hoping for.
SO ******* UNFAIR.
i was never set up for success and I'm pissed that my manager didn't recognize that.
****.
and now i don't even know if its worth it to discuss this with my admin manager because i don't want to come off as defensive and 'disobedient,' but there are several anecdotes i can use to counter some of the constructive criticism i got. i mean, at this point, it's not like my review is going to change, but i don't want any perceptions on my abilities to arise and stick from this one project review. if anything, i want to ask that it don't count just because the project was so atypical and overall a **** project.

Start looking for a new job. Confront your manager tell him you want the review altered to reflect the facts. If he won't comply demand to take it to a higher level of management, and never, ever let anyone **** on you, EVER. Oh and start looking for a new job. Actually you should have already been doing this. The time to look for a new job is the day you start your current one.
