I have quite a few pairs of pants that needed some 'surgery' done (messing with the waistband, bringing in the seat, etc) and was told this was the best place, via Yelp. The gentlemen on the phone said they would definitely be able to help. I took an hour off of work and drove the half hour drive to drop the pants off. They suggested Wednesday pickup (3 days) which I changed to Saturday (making it 6 days) to not have to call off work.
In the mean time, on a Friday...
I brought two of my sport coats that were MTM (Made to Measure) online to Zizzo's. The only thing that needed done was to bring the sides in since I had lost some weight. I had asked if they could keep the pick stitching on the seams that they alter if I was willing to pay more and was told, "Really, man? I mean, that's a pain in the ass bro." So I relented. They brought in the sides via the seams that went through the patch pockets without adjusting the patch pockets resulting in the pockets sticking out like wedges and the fabric on the jacket folding. This was not the seam they told me they were going to adjust. If they did tell me, I would have stated what I thought would be obvious; to adjust the pockets for the decrease in width of the jacket. While trying them on, I was told, "Everything wrinkles, man. They're fine." I'm left with two $650 sport coats with patch pockets sticking out because 'everything wrinkles, man' with two rows of pick stitching gone because "that's a pain in the ass bro." I figured If I couldn't live with it, I would bring them back to have the pockets adjusted. But I was extremely skeptical of bringing in anything else.
I come back late for my pants, giving them 9 days that they are open to have them adjusted. The person at the counter can't understand my last name (which isn't hard to pronounce) and asks me to write it down. They can't find my pants. I tell them they're olive green. They continually bring up grey pants. I then hold up fabric that's on the counter and state, "It's like this, olive green." They continue to bring up brown and grey. Then they ask me to walk the store and find the pants for them. Fifteen minutes go by and they bring up my pants, unaltered. They tell me they'll have them by Friday.
At this point, I've got two jackets that they give me grief about and pants that aren't altered after 9 business days. I had to leave work early each time to visit Zizzos since it's so far away. This leaves me with wasted gas, loss of time and money at work, one pair of pants undone and two jackets that they refuse to fix.
I care about my clothes and I spend good money on them. I expected Zizzo would care about people looking good in the clothes they work on as much as I want to look good in my own clothes. How you wear your clothes and what you want them to look like on you is extremely personal, which Zizzo does not consider while working on your clothes. If you need pants hemmed or brought in, I'm sure they could do it as fine as any other tailor. Unfortunately that comes with a side of grief from the tailor and an uncertainty that they will come out on time.
There's still things left out; the communication, other garments ruined by Zizzo (a custom tie) and absurd prices for average work.
Unfortunately Zizzo is just medium talent at a high price.
