I'm listening to Harry Belafonte, like I often do. I just really like his voice, but every time I listen to him I always start feeling disappointed that most of his songs are just fucking.....shitty. His talent for the most part was wasted on these shitty little jingles where he imitates bird calls and other ridiculous islandy shit, and then he spends the first 30 seconds of each song recalling some childhood story, which I don't care about.
I can't help but believe that Harry Belafonte and Phil Specter was the greater artist duo that never happened. He needs a songwriter. "Day-O" might be the only song of his with any redeeming value other than the presence of his voice.
