Actually he has two therapists at the moment and is on meds for his temper. I'm looking for any outlet that will get the piss out of him - running, baseball, considering a heavy bag as well. I've got one friend who's been through pretty similar stuff as a kid (I lived with him and his folks for a while in high school, so we're hermanos) and we chat, and another friend hooked me up with her dad's phone number - her dad specializes in this sort of thing. I feel like we've got enough good people in our corner to make it all work, and we have faith that the clouds will someday part.

Isn't this the Seasonal Affective Disorder you mentioned a while back? Doesn't sunlight help matters? How about beer? Maybe a run in the afternoon sun might help you out a bit?

Dude, that sucks badly, but the bright side (as others have mentioned) is that for the price of dinner and a ticket, you now know what sort of future heartache you just avoided.
