Just to reiterate the point, I do strongly dislike cheese, but that's because it makes me sick. I assume that my disliking it is a valuable part of my body's defenses. I don't think cheese is objectively bad.

Ripe cheeses don't have lactose, and they are yummy. Perhaps they won't make you sick.
I've had this problem my whole life, so you'd think I would have gotten an actual medical diagnosis or something, but I haven't. I don't think lactose is the culprit, though, because I've tried lactose free milk and gotten the same results as when I drank regular milk. I'm disinclined to experiment too much with dairy because I don't really miss it or wish I could have it.
