Gonna come back to Seoul every couple weeks to work. Same thing but we'll condense the work into a few days at a time.

From Seoul to Tokyo back to Seoul, round trip, it's $600 or so for an economy ticket. Starting in Tokyo and going to Seoul round trip, they sell the tickets in Japan for like $200. :fu: Once I get a better visa in Japan I can take advantage of that. A lot of those Japanese tourists in Korea were getting 3 days/2 nights hotel and airfare for like $250. :fu: I don't know why people go apeshit about plane tickets in Korea, the prices are fixed from day one and it's just a matter of filling out the seats like a bus. They rarely discount I guess. My better half goes into the travel agent with cash and gets plane tickets for flights that leave on the same day, within hours, and the price is the same as if she would've reserved it 3 months ahead of time.

Landlord is showing the place to prospective renters lately, she has a knack for sending me texts that go unnoticed because theyre at weird times of the day, or texts me 5 minutes before she comes upstairs and keys in on her own. Problem is, we have a dog and if the dog went through the front door as she is going to do whenever the door opens, she'd be out on the street and dead within minutes. I can't really control this landlord from coming in but I'm always halfway across the city inevitably and it takes an hour to get back home sometimes. :fu: Landlord came in yesterday while I was out at work and I had to rush home to make sure she didnt let the dog out, half expecting I'd have to peel my dog off the street (I live on a main 8-lane road). Dog is ok thankfully, but it's one of those situations... :fu:

The dog has torn up most of the wallpaper, damaged the fake wood floors, and eaten all the baseboards in the apartment - that is okay though, because the room is tiny and the stuff is meant to be disposable and redone with each new tenant here, that is standard for this country. It's all fake fiberboard and vinyl laminate **** anyway. If I redid the entire apartment I think it will cost about $2000, looks like we need both wallpaper and flooring. Understandably the landlord is pissed about that, but we've been here for 3 years and the stuff is just not meant to go that long anyway. She has $10K from us as a deposit for these kinds of things, she is supposed to not care and just make deductions where needed.

Got a month left and we're gonna move to Tokyo. Found a great apartment in a nice neighborhood, at a good price. It's one-bedroom with an additional loft plus a downstairs bedroom and a toilet, so it's essentially a 1BR plus guestroom/study, or a 2.5 story 2BR apartment (that is kind of a stretch considering the size... but yeah), whichever way you want to look at it. Suits my needs pretty well and the price is good, and even better, they only want one month up front instead of the usual Japanese four plus key money gift, and are giving away a free month of rent at the end as well.
We've applied for it through a broker, and many brokers have rights to this place so if one guy fails, we can try another, but the broker is taking awhile thinking about it because I'm a foreigner :fu:

Change the lock.

Change the lock.

She sent me a barrage of texts yesterday and one was specifically for me not to change the lock combo :fu: Got a pen for the dog now so that problem is solved. Just gotta get through a month...

Almost finished the first draft of my dissertation, which is good because I am meant to be going on holiday today. I am down to writing the discussion and analysis section and then writers block struck. I have a week when I get back to finish it when I get back, but I don't want it hanging over me and ruining my holiday. I am stressed as hell, I could really do with a stress free week.

^^ The dog is very cute, and I am a little more relaxed looking at it. Making me miss my dog as well.

I was watching The Wire on DVD last night, IS, and they had a scene at Inner Harbour. Reminded me of how much Bawlmoar kinda sucks.

Every six months or so, I get cravings to play video games. I would like to shoot some aliens right about now.

I've been killing zombies in "Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare" for a week. So satisfying.

yeah, my immediate neighborhood is nice, but if not for the community where i live i would be out of here, probably to denver, so fast.

quick story about the harbor from about 9 years ago when i was engaged. i took my wife there at about 8:00pm in the summer to walk around and enjoy the harbor and the shops. it was still kinda light out and as we are walking we ecounter a homeless bag lady with lipstick all over her face. she is rambling like a lunatic to us and i make the mistake of being nice and listening to her ramblings. next thing i know a homeless gutter dwelling man comes out of nowhere yelling at me that im messing with his "girl." he starts getting closer and begins threatening. i tell my wife to walk ahead towards the car fast and i tell the guy to back the **** off before i kick the **** out of him. he stopped coming forward but continued yelling. a few more choise words followed as i walked back towards my wife.

we then cut the evening short and left. havent been back there for a date with my wife since.

downtown is such a **** hole. its too bad because potentially it could be very nice. fack.
