Dude, don't let anyone DIG them out. If they're getting worse, or spreading, then there are a bunch of smaller peripheral warts that may not even be seen and thus not removed. Talk to a doctor about a combination of freezing along with the use of 5-fluorouracil cream to kill the warts.
The longer you have them, the longer it takes to eradicate them.

Plantar warts are a pain in the mfing ass. I've had one for a couple of years. It's such a hassle to go to he clinic and get them removed once they get big. I had 8 or 9 treatments before I left for peru, and we were making progress, but in the 3 weeks i was gone it was back to it's regular size again, at which point i gave up for a few months, because i didn't have time to go to the doctor every week. Now I have one growing on my thumb right under my nail. I tried hadnling it myself but the damned thing is hard to get atand the roots are pretty deep. Don't even waste time with home treatments imo. They don't seem to work very well unless it's really small.
To clarify, by "getting worse," I mean it hurts after the point it should be hurting. I think that might have something to do with the doc cauterizing the blood vessels last time, which hopefully is clearing the wart up.
It amazes me that modern medicine can perform the most intricate surgeries but can't get rid of a wart in under six treatments.
