G33k, that blows about your mom. It's got to be rough. But to be honest, given how you talk about your mom/women in general, it's kind of nice to see that you actually do give a ****.

Walk into Verizon wireless store to check out the HTC Incredible. It looks nice and has the little things I'm looking for. And...AND, it says it's ready to work in 40+ countries. Bonus. That's a big bonus. I don't travel a lot, but when I do, I want a smart phone with me.

So I ask the guy, "what does that mean, it is ready to work in 40+ countries?" His reply: "It will work in any country with CDMA (or whatever) technology."

This pisses me off. It's tech-speak meant to keep you in the dark and not really answer the question. So I say "what does that mean in real life? Will it work in Europe?". "No, it won't. It will work in Asia, South America, and the Middle East." So it won't work in the places most Americans travel to. Genius.

Trying a different solution I say "well it has Sype and wi-fi, so I can just connect to wi-fi and talk that way, right?" His reply: "No. Skype doesn't work on wi-fi on our phones." What the ****?! Which is essentially what I say to him. This is ******* useless.

I can find a VZ phone that works in Europe except I have to put up with out-of-date software or ****** design, from what I can tell. The Motorola brick is just atrocious looking (yes it matters to me; I also happened to watch a co-worker with hers one day trying to show me how cool it was and nothing was working right on it). And the HTC global phones have ****** Windows mobile 6.x

I'd buy an iPhone but I hate that it's not expandable. So I upgrade from 16gig to 32 gig for another $100? I'm pretty sure I can buy a miniSD for less than that. Design over function there guys.

I'm just annoyed with it all. Android 2.1, works in Europe, and looks nice. Where is it? At this point I'm willing to give up on Verizon and switch carriers. All over a function that I'll use once a year.

As I said in my post, I have legitimate issues with her and she is probably her own worst enemy. She has made a lot of terrible decisions in her life that have cost our whole family (mostly my father) dearly. That said, I'm not an ingrate for what she did right. She sent me to good schools that I might not have attended were it left up to my father alone, and I think they had a very positive effect on the formation of my character and work ethic. And for all her faults, she'd never shut the door on family the way her siblings have.

College teachers that teach from power points, throwing a barrage of info at you which you don't need. And then you've learned almost nothing from the class. When this happens, most of my learning comes from Google...

Also capitalism, lol jk, but seriously...some people.

Mother f-ing bar prep class starts tomorrow. Just when you graduate and think you can relax for a second, you have to work double-time to make your degree actually useful.

I'm not sure how the bar exam works, but I've passed several licensure tests. I always had the best studying from sample tests.

I paid out the @$$ for the best bar prep program on the planet. It is all scheduled for me - a two month course with all material provided and practice tests scheduled. I always learn the most from practice tests as well, and this program uses them often.

Only a few weeks more in D.C. Then it's back to NY. Since I've sent out about 30 apps for jobs here in Washington and heard nothing, chances are I'll be starting my career back home in NY. I'm ok with that, but I was really hoping to get started down here.

Sigh.

I know this is dumb but whatever. So last week I was in MT for a funeral and me and my GF kept playing phone tag due to time differences etc.

Well last night she called twice and I missed them because I was asleep and my phone was on silent. She was clearly upset and was like "I don't want to do this" if I can't just talk to my boyfriend. And now I feel bad.

Wait - Rush is touring again? I swear, those guys are going to break a hip or something. Has Geddy found a good walker/bass rig?

get well soon, man.

She's set herself up for many of her troubles, but they're not all of her own doing either and she's had it rough these past 8 years (losing the hotel, cancer, etc). It sure as hell doesn't help that she hasn't been able to sell the house in Quebec b/c of the economy either... Anyway, god knows I have my own issues with her, but ganging up on her like that was a ****** thing to do when she's legitimately trying to rebuild her life. It's not easy moving to a new city and starting over from nothing at any age, let alone in your 60s. Once my grandparents die I'll have no reason to see any of the miserable bastards.

yep, family can be alarmingly vicious at times. We went through something similar when Mrs. T's grandmother died and her house got split up. Long story, but it was a major disaster the children, and the generation following as well.

Hey, you go see Rush to see Neil play. If memory serves, he was just voted as "Best Professional Percussionist" again in 07 or 08. The guy is a machine.

I'm over it though. Well, not really, but I'm convincing myself I am

I just got my final grades back. Didn't do so hotly. And I realized what a boring life my parents live. Time to move out? I think so.

Maybe I should start a threak dedicated to my loser family. Apparently, my brother may have gone into my mother's email account and deleted the confirmation for play-offs tickets. He let her know they were going on sale online on Sunday, and he wanted extra tickets to sell (you can basically double your money with them). So they both ended up getting tickets, but my mother had told him she'd be doing it for herself (she needs the money and he has a steady job).

She called me this morning saying the confirmation is no longer in her email and that she thinks he deleted it. I told her to check with the Canadiens ticket office before she started making accusations, but I wouldn't put it past him, because it's the type of thing he has done before, and he made a big deal about her keeping the tickets. They were on her credit card so he really doesn't have a leg to stand on.
