Last night, in a spaced out (still really sick and on every cold medication I could find) dumbass move, I pulled my 1.5TB external hard drive down and knocked it onto the floor. Now it doesn't even spin up. I get to try the freezer trick and the 'slam it on the table' trick I guess. Luckily I don't think there was anything original on that drive that I will really miss, but

Can't believe a real RAID set up like this can be put together at 1TB for about $350 off Amazon (got a mail in rebate before Xmas).

My ex is defering her masters another year increasing the time she is working abroad for another year, which means she really is my ex, its not a just break. One year I can handle, two years is too much. Damn. Damn. damn.

Can it handle being dumped on the floor?

but I will look into setting up RAID to replace this drive. Ugh. To add to the computer hell around here lately, the battery on my laptop is now completely dead and won't charge, and they won't cover it under the recall for other batteries with the same problem. Sigh. FYI: Don't buy a Thinkpad.

I don't think so. One of the things that made me get it though, was a similar event at the Piob household. This sits right off my router, network accessible, so it's safely removed from all the action. It also has a few very interesting fuctions, like being able to email friends/family permission to view pics on the device, and it presents a clickable link from email that generates a web page for viewing. It's pretty cool IMO, and the disks are hot swappable.

An office fat just crop dusted as she went past my office. Awful.

Dammit. Inspired by the knife sharpening threak, I bit the bullet and bought a sharpening stone on Amazon, and the f***ing thing is not straight!

I guess it's not horrible, and though the 1000 side is pretty straight (just a hair convex - I can slide a piece of paper in under the center) the 6000 side is pretty convex, but that's just the polishing side. I don't know if it's worth it to return the damned thing to Amazon; it was like $35. Am I going to ruin my knives on this thing?

Do you really not know what crop dusting is? Are they just not teaching any vulgarity in college these days?

A decent definition from Urban Dictionary:
Passing gas in a stealth manor, usually while walking through a crowd or a group, so that someone else gets blamed for the stench, or at the very least people besides the assailent must suffer it.

Conne is so elite, what with his Princeton Law degree and his house in the Adirondacks that he probably was never made aware of what REAL crop-dusting is, let alone what we poor folk on the "other side" have disgustingly turned it into.

That assessment is correct.

Just out of curiousity, what do moneyed, disconnected, Ivy-league-educated WASPs call farts?
