Ugh, I just need grandma out of the kitchen. If she's out by 5, with the pots and pans she used clean and ready to go, I'll still make it. I think. But I hear her clopping around talking, and not cooking.

Umm, are you sure about this? The EU sets limits on thujone content too. For your absinthe, which I'm assuming is over 25% alcohol by volume, the limit is 10mg/kg of thujone. That's the same limit as in the US, as the term "thujone-free" is understood to mean <10mg/kg. Even older, high wormwood content absinthes were found to have less than 10mg/kg of thujone. So unless you're illegally smuggling in absinthe that has had thujone added to it sold in a non-EU country, I don't think your absinthe is any more special than stuff you could legally buy in the US. Also, British Columbia doesn't have a thujone limit, so you could have just gotten it from there. Of course, I could be way off and there's some information you haven't disclosed...

You know thujone has been proven to be not psychoactive, right?

Please tell me you're drinking it for the taste, and this is a connoisseur variety that isn't available here.

One of my dishes is a mushroom stuffing with sage and bacon - nothing spectacular, but homefood, made from scratch, and freaking delicious. Well, the MIL decided that was not "traditional" and she thought people "might not like mushrooms" and wanted a "more traditional" stuffing. So at this moment, I have been kicked out of my own kitchen, and I am falling behind on stuff, while the MIL makes her "traditional" stuffing out of pre-made ingredients (like seasoned croutons) and vegetables I chopped for her (to get her out of my kitchen faster - you should have seen how she started going about chopping the onion) to compete with my own stuffing. So here I am, while I should be frying sage leaves in butter and making creamed spinach, typing to you clowns while my MIL hogs my kitchen.

This would drive me insane. I'm pretty much a fascist when it comes to my cooking. If I need help I'll ask, I really will, but if I don't ask it means I'm fine without any assistance. It drives me nuts when people offer unsolicited help, and if I'm not careful I'll get really upset when people try to jump in.

I have good reason to believe that with enough kitty litter and plastic bags, a reasonably sized mother in law's body will last for months in the trunk of a car without smelling too bad. jsut saying.

chugging a bottle of horrible cheap champagne in 5 minutes, then drinking maybe 7 or 8 bears and a fair amount of hennessy is a HORRIBLE idea

My condolences. I have an uncle to whom I'm very close, and his health is very poor. Something like this is one of my biggest fears.
