Meal replacement shake

Do you guys think meal replacement shake, like Myoplex, Met-Rx, etc are necessary, in addition to regular protein powders? Have any of you guys try Nitro Tech?? Is it really better than regular whey? Thx

All I will say is don't buy into muscle-techs hype. Look at their financials and you will see how marketing totally eclipse's their research and development. For your first question: I only use a meal replacement when I'm trying to gain weight. It provides The extra calories I need to bulk. So your use depends on your goals.

Not to be gross but I tried Myoplex Light yesterday and had the WORST case of gas. That's what I hate about these powdered proteins. Instead, I stick to eating lots of fish and chicken and have not had a problem getting enough protein in my diet. If you need the extra protein, you might try Designer. I've found that their whey powder seems to have fewer unwanted side effects.

Yeah you will definitely get results from a meal replacement shake and their are a lot of good ones out there. $4 a serving but when it replaces a meal with as much as this one does it really isn't that much esp when you compare it to one of those Starbucks specialty drinks

I put Met-Rx with Ultra Fuel for a post-run breakfast. That's about it.

I'm only using a half-serving of the powder (50g of carbs, iirc), and less than a full packet of Met-RX. Probably 25g protein or so, which isn't really the 4:1 ratio I've been hearing about, but it seems to work okay. Fewer carbs, and I become a drowsy, cranky mess until lunchtime. Weight's dropping slowly too so I don't think I 'm going overboard - at least I hope not.

ETA: Probably sounded like I dump Met-Rx in the Ultra Fuel bottle and shake - ewwww. I use the powders and make it fairly watery.

True, make your own. Or just eat real food. The only protein powder worth while is just a basic whey, for post workout and occasionally sprinkling in a diet. But real food>>>>>>>Powders

Forgot to add, like others here, I make my own. It is by far the best way.

I buy a ton of frozen blueberries and berry mixes. I add egg white, non fat yogurt, skim milk, honey, oats, a banana and natural PB in a blender. This is what I have right when I get home from the gym. I then eat a later dinner (chicken breast), and cottage cheese before bed.

You can have this shake at any time you want during the day or as meal replacement. It will give you energy in the AM and quickly recover your body after a workout.
