Looking for a sub 1K euro sport coat in Rome.

Hi All,

I shall be traveling to Rome shortly for a short vacation and to do some shopping there. I currently don’t own a sport coat, but do own two Suit Supply suit’s for more formal occasions. My plan is to pickup my first RTW Italian made sport coat there.

I have been browsing the forum allot and have taken a linking to the style of Cesar Attolini in particular, but do not have the funds to purchase a 2K+ sport coat.

I am interested I buying something similar in style to Attonlini and also decent in quality for under 1K euro. I understand that you get what you pay for, and that in no way I am expecting to get the same quality as Attonlini for a fraction of the price, but very decent quality should be possible. Furthermore I love the look of wool, cashmere or tweed sport coats in earth tones.

Any recommendations regarding stores I should visit or brands I can look into that fit my wishes.

Have you looked into Battistoni (made by Sartoria Castangia)? They are in Rome, beautiful jackets, but they might be a little over 1K.

not answering your question...but how do you like the suits by suit supply? vie been so tempted to pick up a couple jackets...such a great price

Oof I am a total noob when it comes to suits and sport coats, hence not really in a position to give advice. In my opinion Suit Supply suits offer a variety of styles, from conservative business suits to slightly more flamboyant styled suits.

Style wise the suits I own look very good and fit me extremely well. I have only worn both suits on three of four occasions each on work related interviews. My clients seemed impressed with the way I looked as I received compliments on most occasion and allot of looks from the ladies. I can’t really judge on how well the hold up when worn frequently nor can I comment on the quality or the construction, because I don’t have anything of other makers and qualities to compare with.

The suits cost me about 375 euros each, including small moderations by their in house tailors. I purchase one five years ago and the other three years ago and they have served me well in business and do not regret buying them.

It' worth the visit. Beautiful store. Beautiful clothes.
I doubt you'll find any sport coat there for under $1000.
Mine went for much more at Barneys in New York six years ago.

Mariano Rubinacci sells a RTW sportcoat for exactly 1k euros. To be honest, though, I'm always a bit suspicious of RTW diffusion lines from bespoke houses.

On a related note - I'm also heading to Rome in June, have scoured a shitload of SF pages (100+) via the search function and bookmarked several places to go. This list includes Battistoni and Rubinacci, but some of the threads are pretty old and I'm wondering if anyone who's been there recently could share an updated shopping itinerary - especially if it contains SCs, shoes and leather briefcases...
