Shell Cordovan Wallet Pron - Page 42

^ love it

Testing out some new Italian Shell Cordovan (Rocado SRL). Very similar to Horween in terms of weight variance, smell, and feel. The colors are nicely distributed and it has a very substantial feel to it. Part of the lighter brown shell was almost 6.25 oz (Horween shell is generally 2.5 - 5 oz).

Yeah, but I think they've changed their 'back leather' range up a bit now though.  It is real alligator on the front, too.

I would say quite different. Shinki / Comipel are often skived down to a uniform thickness throughout the entire shell (about 3.5 oz) where Horween and this Rocado SRL Shell Cordovan are varying in weight quite a bit.

The "hand feel" is quite different too where Shinki/Comipel are pretty "plasticky" feeling (but not in a bad way) where this Rocado SRL shell (as well as Horween and Clayton) are more waxy feeling.

Shinki/Comipel also finish the interior differently too. It seems a bit more nappy, almost like a suede where this is more similar to Horween in that it has a waxy/pliable feel.

I can send you small samples of each of the shells if you're ever interested to see/feel the differences.

One of my new favorite combos here. Italian Olive Shell Cordovan exterior with Horween Natural Chromexcel Horsehide interior with natural thread. Very "organic" feeling color combo.

Horween Dark Cognac "Sentinel" Card Holder

Shinki Hikaku Ruby Red "Sentinel"

Shinki Hikaku Emerald Green Two Piece Watch Strap (kind of like a wallet)

Just received the wallet from Guarded Goods. Very well made. One of the few wallets I've owned that actually stays closed.

Don't mind the uneven $ slot at the top, I like it that way so I can open that slot easier without looking.

Some poorly taken pics:

Glad you like it! Just as clarification, you requested the sloped down slot at the top. The way you worded it makes it sound like it was an accident. ;)

Figured I'd share this here.

Uncut, one piece shell cordovan is pretty rare. Luckily I was able to get my hands on a piece of uncut Shinki Hikaku Natural Shell Cordovan. This will be turned into a few belts.

Lovely are you going to keep it as one piece? Would that qualify the belt as 100% shell cordovan? Looking forward to the outcome

Yup - I plan on making a few one piece shell cordovan belts out of it. It is about 42" wide in the longest area down to about 39". Should be enough for most sized belts.
