I don't think it makes sense to offer general answers to those questions. As you can see, some men follow what they perceive to be the changing demands of fashion ("so '80's"), while others ignore them ("classic"). You are not likely to get these viewpoints to agree except when the fashion forward types decide that the classic appearance is back in style, for however long they consider such styles to last.




Also, as noted by others, the appearance of flat vs pleated depends on the body inside. Those with big thighs, particularly big thighs and small waists- think bicyclists- will do better with pleats. Otherwise getting both the waist and thighs of the pants to fit could be near impossible. Those with waist to thigh closer to typical, particularly if they are slim, might be fine with flat front, and look baggy with pleats.



Reverse vs forward: you will get some opinions here, but my suggestion is look at both and pick the one you prefer. Or wear both and realize that whatever you do, someone will think it is wrong.
