Nothing wrong with them on holiday in a Mediterranean resort

I've been wearing espadrilles since I was like, 5. My grandfather wore them, my dad used to when he was younger. My family is from the Mediterranean, and I buy mine usually from a cordwainer in paris for like 5 euros. They're a cheap shoe that doesnt last, and I do think the trendiness of them is annoying but I wont give up on something I love so much (wear them as slippers at home, with jeans on the street).

They're horrible for your feet (no arch support, no cushioning), they tread horribly on concrete (expect fewer than like 20 wears in the city), but I love them. Not worth the 30+ dollars of soludos, which have a thin sole too.

I live in new york now, and while I can get saphir here, I still need a source for good, cheap espadrilles. I'd like to pay under 20 USD for them.

Toms last way longer than real espadrilles, I just feel upset when someone asks me if im wearing toms when Im wearing ones that were made by hand by some old cordwainer in paris or spain. I think Toms look weird and too fashionable, they dont have jute soles. Theres so much about them I dislike.

i know exactly what your talking about. I dont like the fact that Toms dont look that authentic... i just really like the patterns on that specific pair. but i am going to keep looking till i find one that meets every check on my list

Tbh, I wouldnt spend more than 3€ on a pair of Espandrilles. It's not worth it, there is nothing in there that can be constructed even 10 times as durable. Also, I like to have different colors to switch them up rather than spending it on 2 for 50€.

My shoe size is definitely 9-9.5, and since my feet stopped growing I always go 42 for espadrilles, with I believe is 8.5. Go down half a size?

I've been very happy with Ropey Soles. IIRC they end up being about $30 a pair with shipping to the US, which is annoyingly high, but they have nice designs, are unbranded, and have held up quite well.
