Diablo III / 3 - Page 46

Just a PSA - some Diablo accounts have been targeted by hackers. Reports say that includes accounts with the Battle.Net Authenticator. Check to make sure, and also if someone messages you and you can tell its not your friend, might want to let them know as well.

In case anybody missed it - the article that brought it to my attention:

Essentially you want as high intelligence as possible on all items including sockets for a magician spell-caster.

No dude it doesn't do that. It buffs your armor by 65% while reducing your max "mana" by 20. One of the runes that alters its effect causes a hit that would ordinarily deal more than 35% of your health in one blow is reduced to deal exactly 35% of your health. Consequently you can make your Wizard have very low vitality with high health regeneration through equipment, etc., that you recover life faster than you lose it through getting hit. Hence, people abusing energy shield. With it, it's much easier to stay alive. It's not God mode, because you can still get hit 3+ times in one second and you will die. Without it, Wizard is, I am told, basically unplayable in inferno.

Oh that sucks

And I'm assuming teleport has a cool down vs. spamming in D2?

Some finer mechanics of this game I'll need to be aware of. Brother is going to rush me through NM atm.

See you guys in 'hell'! lol8[1].gif

Ok, so the automated matching system officially fucking sucks.

It only lets you actively search for games that are within your target level...but the target level choices are stupid if you are good at the game.

I'm in act 2 NM but at level 40, the lowest level range quest I qualify for is quest-line #4 but I am actually on quest #8.

If I want to play with people I have to start a public game and hope they get placed in it...but nobody ever seems to get placed in it if I am not doing an end-boss quest. And since waypoints don't stick with you, its not like I can join a low level quest and just use teh waypoint to move the group ahead.

Why on earth would they design the grouping system to not place me in quests that I am eligible for in single player?

edit: now I am 41 and can get to quest #6...oh goodie, still 2 questlines behind where I am when I play alone.

Early birds like us are the actual testers. Whatever was before was just a tease to get hype going.

Blizzard will fix this by years end and it'll be only fun when more players join the game.

That's how I feel at least. When I played D2, it was in the middle of the lifespan of the gaming cycle before dupes appeared and ruined the economy for good toward the end.

This right here. Game mechanics are completely different from D2.

I don't know what to say about that build though. I understand why people call it an exploit, because the entire goal is to get your health as low as possible so you can regen a higher percentage of it. On the other hand, it's not like it makes you invincible. It makes certain enemies not just more difficult but totally impossible, if they can quick-hit you. It also makes every enemy as deadly as a boss. So if you screw up you're toast.

yeah doubt a hardcore player will try it...

gah this is stupid....

now I am in act 3 and I am just SHREDDING through the mobs so I am obviously not too low level (I'm not a glass cannon right now, I stand there and let them hit me and it is fine) but still the highest public game I can join is A2 quest 6 which is one of the middle ones where you look for the dude's head in the desert.

Whose bright idea was it to put a minimum level cap on games? at this rate, I am basically not going to be able to join public games until the end of hell or something....and this quest seems like it would be perfect for a 4-man shred-fest.

I don't understand the level cap. It said something like "49-52" and when I joined there was two level 58's.

You can still start it and hope someone joins it no matter what level you are (but as I said, nobody seems to join my games when I am not in the level range except for boss runs).

You can also invite people to the game. I could start a game and then even if you were outside the level range, I could invite you and you would be able to get in. But that requires you to know someone who is able to get into the game for the quest you want....since there is no ability to browse games.

Does anyone have a good understanding of the differences with gems? I was looking at the auction house and saw the square and the star gems. Is it just a linear progression (i.e., star > square > normal) or are they just difference classes?

Chipped -> Flawed -> Normal -> Flawless -> Perfect -> Radiant -> Square -> Flawless Square -> Perfect Square -> Radiant Square -> Star -> Flawless Star -> Perfect Star -> Radiant Star

Flawless Square is the highest that can drop, the rest have to be crafted (and are far from cheap). Each type (Ruby, Emerald, Amethyst, Topaz) has a set of properties that increase with each tier

...8 hour outage, seriously?

729 flawless squares for one radiant star. uhoh.gif Factor in the gold cost, which is 12k for making ONE flawless square, and I guess scales upwards, and you'll find out that it's not really worth it.
