Diablo III / 3 - Page 44

Got it. Spent all my gold. Now basically god-mode. Fought the gluttony guy, he did not hit me and died in about 30 seconds. They didn't make normal difficult enough.

Listed a couple of rares on there too, at varying prices. Interested to see what happens.

Went back to Normal to get the components for Whimsyshire, was entertaining to kill all the bosses before they could attack

seems like DH is the most popular class; 8/10 times someone joins my game, its a DH. i can never seem to out-DPS them, either - my 42 monk is doing 1100 with fairly crappy gear whereas every DH i've seen around my level is doing ~1300.

game is pretty fun, getting hard. molten vampiric packs suck. almost in hell

So in terms of popular classes, DH -> Barb -> Monk -> Wiz -> WD?

I don't get how people have so much more health than me in Wiz class, I think I have like 1300. Not looking to sacrifice DPS for vitality bumps, so maybe that's what's going on, but it'd still require like... +150 VIT to get my dude in line with some others around my level (28). Energy shield is necessary.

Dito. And I give him whatever I have equip-wise. Still no damage. But his heal and stun is useful. FWIW, he dies *a lot*.

My DH is level 36 and doing 1050 dps smile.gif

Does seem like there are a lot of DHs though...I picked it because amazon was my favorite in D2 but I sort of figured there would be less people playing it. They made some last minute tweaks to it because it was pretty unpopular in the beta from what I hear...and you would think that having to deal with dual energy pools would scare off new players. Its a lot easier to worry about one mana pool being full than it is to have 2 that interact with each other.

I'm up to 20,000 dps.

otc - what are you using to get to that dps at lvl 36? What is your dex?

I actually like all of the classes except for the barb which is boring to play with. Maybe it will get better when you start unlocking better swords, etc but right now....blah

My main is a DH right now, but I see more monks than anything else. Have only entered into a game/brought into my own party 3-4 DHs.

Mine is at around 1200 dps, same level - got some gear with two sockets and just threw in more dex to get up to 1200.

You probably are not level 36 then...

I love the monk, but it's hugely problematic when playing with strangers who are ranged classes (DHs and wizards).

Melee guys have to be in the middle of the action to do damage and build ability points, but they are also exposed to the most harm that way. Consequently, any barbarian or monk is naturally going to want to get into a crowd and do as much damage in as short a period of time as possible. It is not an option to sit on the sidelines and shoot laser beams. And that's what the demon hunters and wizards do. Both tend to play a longer game by chipping away at monsters from a safe distance. Even worse for the melee members of their party, they often retreat from battle entirely until things thin out. In other words, ranged classes tend to hold out when playing with melee classes, leaving the latter to get slaughtered as they face two to four times as many monsters as they normally would.

When playing with strangers, I've done the best with other monks or barbarians, as we have a shared interest in ending battles as fast as possible. It also works quite well when I play with friends who are ranged classes, as they don't just leave me to die.

Ideally, everyone would cooperate and complement each other's abilities. A monk or barbarian should head into the crowds first and weaken them by 60-90% within seconds, expecting that the ranged guys will finish the job once they get there.

Yeah, I have used my sockets wisely. Bow is socketed with a Square Ruby and I have pants and chest armor with double sockets with flawless Dex and Vit gems (its either 2&2 or 3&1) and at least one other piece that I can't remember (amulet or ring maybe) with another flawless +dex.

When I get home, I can check on my actual stats overall. but its definitely over 3k health and something like 1050 dps (plus the 20% bonus if I can keep 10 yards away...not sure how far 10 yards actually looks on the screen though).

Using a crossbow now and I agree with whoever posted it in here earliers assessment--it works well with multishot. I think I like bows better but since multishot gets expensive (even when I am using the half-price rune), the slower attack speed of the crossbow for what should be the same DPS means that I can keep shooting longer. I also ditched my knife-circle panic button skill for a bat which means I can rapid fire for a LONG time or get off a good deal of multishots.

Inferno mode as melee sucks. The random champ packs kill melee in seconds so you have to constantly kite. Kiting means not generating rage/spirit, which means no damage.

Act 2 white mobs are ridiculous. I think they hit me for about 7-10k and I'm at 5k armor and 215 resist all.

If you want to do inferno, I recommend playing a wizard/DH.

I just attempted diablo solo on nightmare. he's a bitch to kill with a witch doctor (easy just time consuming). I got him down to 25% and he teleported on me and stabbed my heart :'(

^^ Even then, you might make progress but it's boring as fuck. My friend is in ACT II Inferno and he says preparation/smoke screen is an absolute necessity. NOTHING else works. Basically you're stuck cheesing the game by almost permanently staying in an invincible form and pew pewing.
