Let's crank out 100,000 pullups this year - Page 26

The numbers you guys regularly put up here continue to astound me. I have gotten to where I can do 10 chin-ups and that seems pretty hard to me. I have been doing chin-ups since that is what my trainer has me doing when we do them, but I should probably switch to pull-ups when I do them on my own.

I do true pull ups, palms out, but the most I can do in a row is 8. Never surpassed that. Pull ups are harder than chin ups because you are not really engaging the biceps.

This is probably true - it is for me - though some people do seem to find pull-ups harder than chin-ups. I will probably try doing more pull-ups when I do them on my own, though that is usually only when I have some time waiting for a squash court or right after I am done playing.

I actually did every set except for 2 with 10 or more. Actually, for the first set, I cranked out 15, and could have gone further, but I did not want to go to exhaustion, since it would make getting to 100 a lot harder.

For dopey - I think that it's just a matter of practice, like everything else. Manton can attest to the fact that I'm pretty average build (though probably a full size or two bigger than most SWD people,) and I'm definitely carrying about 10 extra lbs (charitably). I've just been doing them for a couple of decades, and all of my strength and conditioning is geared towards that type of activity.

Pullups are easy to gain in terms of reps. You just have to do your max 3 times a day. Went from 4 to 8 in a matter of 2 weeks, then from 8 to 12 in like 3 weeks more. Im currently doing 10-15 per set now waiting until I hit 20+ before I move on to weighted. Basically, just spam your max and you'll be fine.

Also make sure you puff your chest, arch your back in, and keep your lower body rigid. Proper technique does help.

I am surprised as to where my strength has been despite really eating much of anything this past month...lots of intermitten fasting.

I have to watch out I feel like I am going to put my head through the ceiling at my gym when im doing these...making sure my entire head goes above the bar and go all the way down.

I did these as regular pull ups rather than chin ups and they were not really harder once I followedFlame's technique advice. It was after playing a long match and I was pretty tired, but I wish I had time to have tried multiple sets. The bar was taken before my match and after. I had waited enough as is just to get one set in. Perhaps more tomorrow.

These were regular pullups again. I was excited to do ten on the first set, but the remaining ones were five each. The last was disappointing as I had about 20 minutes or more of rest and thought I would get closer to ten. I threw in some negatives as well.
