I would be interested in this, too. I can't make it into Brookline (recommended taylor) from Foxboro as I'm on the road a lot. I do go to Barrington, RI to get my hair cut once a month.

I singed up just to reply, and register my distress at not being able to find an alterations tailor in Rhode Island. I've gone through several periods of motivation to upgrade my wardrobe on a budget only to be flummoxed by the alterations problem. Apologies in advance for the moaning.

Thus far i've tried two alterations people which i can heartily advise to strike from considerations: Marysia's Custom Tailoring on Hope St in Providence was exorbitantly expensive, did shoddy work, was very very slow, and did not complete all of the alterations that I wanted. Emily's Alterations in East Providence does things for a decent price, and Emily is very sweet but they specialize in women's clothing and their menswear tailor is disagreeable in the extreme. I had to argue with him on repeated occasions about having exposed shirt cuff while wearing a jacket. On another occasion, i requested a certain alteration and it was flat out refused by the tailor because he didn't agree. He apparently is a devotee of the slovenly suit. I havent tried Marc Allen in Providence for alterations, which would probably be rather expensive and impractical for me as i'm mostly working with hand-me-down or thrift items until further notice.

I would try out other folks but i'm anxious the ruin more perfectly decent clothing, though ill-fitting, on another hack-job. However it will continue to remain unworn and i'm stuck in denim...

Marc Allen may be able to recommend another alterations tailor if that is a service they do not provide.

Does anyone have any feedback for the tailor next to McFadden's in Providence (I'm not sure of the name) ? I meet some friends at McFadden's several times a year.

I can't believe there isn't a tailor worth going to in Barrington or Narragansett..

if i'm thinking of the right place it either closed or moved a few years ago and they jsut have a misleading sign up in the retail space.

I don't have any recommendations to offer, but I found this charming.

I've gotten pants hemmed and sleeves adjusted by Mr. Conte. I assume his tailoring skills are top notch. He's downtown by water. Google Conte's Custom tailors and it'll come up.
