+1 to the 32 GB. In 10 months with the phone, I've accumulated 1,300 pictures and 148 videos (the 148 surprised me, I was sure it was like 25 at most). 80% of each are of a dog, but that's neither here nor there.

Would have liked to go with the 32, but I refuse to pay an extra $100 for an extra 16gb of storage on principle. I can buy 16gb of flash memory on Newegg right now for $8.49 shipped. I'm sure the cost is substantially less for Apple.

I agree It's over priced, but I'm sure you know that there is a difference between the cheap memory they toss in USB drives and what Apple uses for it's products.

My opinion is 16 gigs is fine for most users if you don't plan on carrying your whole music library with you. I buy the 32 gig model because I always end up having a lot of apps, audio books, podcasts and a few videos on mine. 64 gigs for most users is overkill.

I've found 32 to work best for me. I often download movies and tv shows for air travel and have lots of music and apps. I had 64 on my first iPhone and it was way more than I needed; 16 is not quite enough for my needs.

Set my alarm at 3am, was able to preorder a black 16gb through apple.com. Took about 10 minutes since the store came up later than 3:01am EST, then went back to sleep. iPhone 4S already sold on ebay, making my out of pocket around $120 since I wasn't eligible for full upgrade discount.

They still have preorders up. I have a feeling the stock won't be sold out till tonight, the earliest. Apple has got better, each generation, on making sure they have enough stock to fill demand.

Anyone want to take a guess on sales numbers? I'm thinking they will easily blow way the launch record they set by the iPhone 4S.

I actually have no idea what kind of quality Apple uses, but am happy to take your word that they use the good stuff. And I am looking at SDHC prices, not chips (obviously). But class 10 cards from Kingston/Sandisk/Mushkin come in at $15 or less.

It's not as if it's only Apple who does this, but it's still ridiculous. I was pricing out a Lenovo laptop the other day, and an extra 4gb stick of ram was $160. Quality brands at Newegg are $20. At least with the Lenovo, it takes me 5 minutes to add it myself.

Don't mean to sound overly negative. Hey, I'm buying the phone, and I'm excited to get it. But bullshit is bullshit.

AT&T's site went live right before 3 am. I was able to place the pre-order at 2:56 am. This was a huge relief.

64 GB model in black. I have a roughly 50 GB music collection and have been wanting to have all my music on my phone for years now. That day has come finally.

Hopefully I'll get mine on the 21st. I've been told not to expect a shipping number until roughly Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

Oh, I completely agree with you that it's over priced. Wouldn't have a problem with it if each tier was $50, but $100 is too steep. Also agree that everyone does it. It's an industry problem.

In terms of "quality" it's more to the fact that the memory they use is high speed and bandwidth, often specially engineered for Apple needs. They are one of the few companies with enough weight and manufacturing resources built up to have a high level of customization of parts without eating too much into their own bottom line.

Yea but preorders are now listed as 2 weeks shipping not 9/21.
