just got a 5 last night, experiencing what I feel is not very good battery life, I see the percentage dropping pretty rapidly in real time (it just lost 3% in the time it took to type this post) and figure it gives me maybe 3 hrs of continuous service - I have had iPhones for years now and this is about on par with the 3GS I just gave back, and the 4S I have overseas before the battery bug was fixed. Should I be concerned? I deep cycled it once and will do again today. I am using it as a wifi hotspot, does this really drain the battery that fast?

same shitty battery life story happened to me when i first got it. It typically happens after you restore from an old back up.

the battery life improves dramatically after a couple cycles, so i'd give it a couple days.

wifi hotspot will eat your battery away too.

edit: but you know what? FUCK APPLE. FUCK TIM COOK. AND FUCK THE STOCK MARKET.

If it doesn't improve with a reset I'd take it in. Mine was fine until this weekend. It went from 70 to dead overnight. I'd type an email and lose 2-3%. I swapped it out. The wifi hotspot may have something to do with it but if its idle it shouldn't drop that fast

Been braving it without a case since I got the phone a couple weeks ago. So far no scuffs. I do plan on getting a case soon, but this does play into my theory that some batches have less durable finishes then others. Perhaps quality control was not up to snuff when they first started producing handsets and it's got better since then.

Also their programs are logically inconsistent. If the back button is in the top-left corner in one page, make it in the top-left (or top-right, whatever) corner in all pages. It's the reason people buy your shitty stuff, because they expect consistency and well-polished products.

What iOS Apps from Apple are your speaking of here? I just tested Mail, iMessage, Photos, Notes, Phone, Settings and Podcasts. They all follow the top-left corner guidelines. Admittedly Safari does not, but it makes logical sense that they put these buttons on the bottom considering the top is monopolized by the URL field and search. I don't fault them for this in the least. Is this the lack of consistency you speak of?

I've moved back to Sparrow from Gmail. I don't care about Push as I turned it off to save battery anyway. The last straw came today after the Gmail app wouldn't let me download a fucking image from an email.

Messages click the 'edit' button, then 'clear' is on the top left. I have almost hit 'clear' about a hundred times because of this inconsistency. There's more but I can't think of them off the top of my head, I just know I run into this a lot.
