No, but I am going to try and get one this weekend. Just depends on if they have any in stock at the Apple store. I'm not worried here. It will be easy enough to walk into a store and get a phone soon enough.

It does sound like scuffing is an issue with the black version for some people. Not sure how widespread it is, yet.

I am picking one up this week as long as the apple store has it in stock.

Did Apple address the scuffing?

Yes, it is documented in this thread, one of the SVP's said, "Aluminum scuffs" essentially.

He was the SVP of marketing responding to an email from an angry customer. He's a voice for the company, but that's not really the same thing as an official statement. Job's was known to write people back too and sometimes said things I don't believe were in line with the "company line."

I would like to hear an official statement on it. The extent to how bad of an issue it is should be something they address formally.

Pre-ordered the exovault case and got 20% off. They told me when it is ready that I can swing by and pick it up.

Those things look like they weigh a ton. Nice looking though.

Well I am getting the aluminum one and well, aluminum is light.

Visually it looks heavy. My phone should be here next week and I think I'm going to go for the natural patina rather than a cover.

A 200 USD case for a phone?

I did that with my 4, but then when I dropped it on a corner and shattered the screen I thought otherwise. Plus, if they are in great condition they have a better resale value.

Some of us don't have to pay enormous taxes on our islands.

Also, my phone retails for what, $900? Doesn't seem crazy to me.

Okay fanbois I am going to the Apple store, if it's in stock, I will have a new phone tonight.

 

My current phone made it through 3 years including a deployment with just a screen protector. It is pretty damn beat up but I've never broken a phone.
