On the 2nd December Chanel travelled to Scotland to showcase their tenth Métiers d’Art collection, Paris-Edimbourg. The collection was shown at Linlithgow Palace, a derelict castle 15 miles outside of Edinburgh and the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots.

Launched in 2002, the annual (pre-Fall) Chanel Métiers d'Art collection celebrates the skills and craftmanship of all its subsidiary Ateliers (Lesage - specialist embroiderer acquired in 2002; Desrues - costume jewelry and button maker acquired in 2002; Guillet - maker of fabric flowers since 1896 and acquired in 2006; Maison Michel - millnery since 1936 and acquired in 2002; Maison Lemarié - feather-maker since 1880 and acquired in 1997; Robert Goossens - gold and silversmithing since 1960 and acquired in 2005; Massaro - boot-making since 1947 and acquired in 2005 ; Scottish cashmere mill Barrie Knitwear acquired in 2012).

Yang Li is awesome.

^ ^ eerie... in a cool way.

I really like Yang Li's aesthetic, but those models are just way too skinny. Maybe it's the make-up but their faces looks like skulls. First time I really question their health and general well-being.

I like the women's cut out shoe/boot hybrid. You can see the raf influence.
I think suspension point should carry yang li to complete the 4-letter first name, 2-letter last name trifecta. Yang li, siki im and peir wu biggrin.gif

Looks like a deliberate casting choice; that's as much from having really sharp bone structure as having little bodyfat. Look the same size as most other fashion models to me

Blazer is my fav. piece, a position closely contested by the shrunken MA-1 in that third photo; love how it fits on both the male and female models

Can't fucking stand this. Can he get any more boring with his super flat super dead b&w stuff ?

I have an avowed love for Hedi and everything he's done and was vocal in my praise for the womenswear, but this is stretching it. Looks like the work of a first year photography student who took a B&W course :(

I like the styling mostly, but it seems ridiculous to me to shoot a fashion campaign in black and white. You lose a lot of the depth of the clothes. Seems like a crutch.

My larger concern is the menswear seems totally overshadowed by the womenswear, and even that isn't great.

It definitely feels like a crutch in Hedi's case. I think there are some beautiful b&w campaigns out there (but I'm of the mind that campaigns can be more about atmosphere and don't necessarily have to show the clothes in details to be successful, I know not everyone agrees w/ that) but Hedi's photographic work has always struck me as trite and unimaginative.

A bit like his clothes, which doesn't help anything.

The best thing here are the leak stains and the rough concrete walls.

like the oversized hat+skinny jeans look. but then again, i said that about his first season laugh.gif
