Perhaps, but aside from rabble rousing there's nothing politically important about one piece of ahit killing another piece of shit. It happens all the time.
I do appreciate Gawker's rabble rousing intro paragraph to their coverage of the story.

Sorry, but if you read Gawker you deserve whatever stupidity you are thereby subjected to.
After a year they affirmed it per curiam, without explanation. That doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't settled in the interim. IIRC the trial judge was pretty obviously wrong and her granting summary judgment was based on straight up misstatements of fact.
If it's still alive the case will go further up, which it would have anyway regardless of who won.
