I'm not surprised. The majority of liberals seem to get their news from the Daily Show instead of traditional media outlets.

I guess he didn't look like Obama's son.

That said I think this whole thing has gone way over board. If a person has a issue with the result then they need to look at the law as it stands. Race, clothing, weather and 1000 other things played a part which ended in this guy being dead but the jury came to the conclusion that Z didn't break the law, this is the end of the story and there is nothing more to be said about it. You can be angry or pleased that it came to a trial(I think it's comical and speaks poorly for the US that politlcs left you all in this mess) but at the very least a person should be thankfull that media and political preasures "can't" convict a person for being an idiot in the wrong place at the wrong time.

At the end it's a bummer for sure but so many other things could have come out of this for the better but that will never sell newspapers or time slots on the cable news shows. Why was this kid even there in the first place and why was he not in a true stable home? Get to the real issue's and do some positive work. I'd love to see Sharpton and the like come out to say something even close to this but it's never going to happen.

Who thinks the DoJ will be pressured into bringing civil rights charges? Obama seems pretty hesitant to do so, and he's never one not to take advantage of a situation to placate part of his base, so I have to figure he really does not want to. That does not mean he won't fold though.

Not going to happen.

Zimmerman was not a police officer, so that avenue is closed. They'd have to prove not only a crime, but also racial animus. There is no evidence at all of racial animus in this case.

It's a losing proposition. They will make statements about injustice and tragedy, and that's it.

Here's hoping that the state of Florida and the grievance industry can reach a compromise and take it out on this guy.

He has the advantage of seeming to be really fucking guilty, and there are at least three eyewitnesses so it shouldn't be that hard to prove as long as the little darling baby 17 year old child doesn't turn out to have a pistol in his hand that the news forgot to tell us about. Considering the way the guy fled the scene and then the county, I'm guessing that won't be the case.

To your first question, basically yes. You can set it up so that you get a message each time, or you can just have them accumulate in a list the way an RSS reader does. As to your second question, I can't really help you. I use Twitter to keep track of what food trucks are going to be near my office at lunch time, but that's about it. (I don't get messages sent to my phone, I just go look at my accumulated messages - basically the equivalent of an email mailbox -- online. Which is to say, I'm pretty sure I'm not using it in the intended fashion . . .)

They would have to prove the murder 2 that the state didn't come within striking distance of (I don't think you are going to sell hate manslaughter to a jury), and on top of it prove a hate motive that isn't there. It would be a disaster and even a goon like Holder isn't going to do that.

Interesting how "hate" can determine whether something is self-defense or not. Put Paula Deen in this situation, and its a hate crime even though she's a Dem. (Southern + grits + cookin'). Put Bill Maher or Alec Baldwin in this situation, and its self-defense (NY + Hollywood + Prius).

Ridiculous analysis, I know.

But accurate nonetheless.

Some of Facebook feed has degenerated into Stand Your Ground is racist because Zimmerman got off and Marissa Alexander got 20 years. Obviously, the only rationale is a racist law and the only answer is to lock up Zimmerman too.

Seriously though, why does the left think Ms. Alexander should go free but Zimmerman should be locked up?

Didn't Zimmerman not invoke stand your ground?

You'll never convince anyone of that who doesn't already realize it.

The guy's story is that they pointed a shotgun at him. There's not really solid proof whether that's true or not since both sides drove away after the shooting. The trial will just be a swearing match.

LOL, some HuffPo article has folks elsewhere convinced the judge gave instructions that were flawed (having to do with self-defense) and they are now waiting for a mistrial to be declared...even though that is legally impossible. Oh, and the judge was biased against the prosecution.

I watch the hubub and think,

"How can any thinking person who kept up with the trial be surprised by the result?"

Then it dawns on me.
