Of course it's an appointed position.

Dr. Bao: "Yes, we tried for peripheral blood"
West: "How do you know?"
Dr. Bao: "I dont remember"

It's just embarrassing how the ME has fallen apart.

I suspect West is prolonging this because he doesn't want to start the defense on a Friday afternoon, because this is just painful to watch.

ME - "I have read many books."

West - "let's talk about Trayon Martin's height"

Bao - "I never said height because a dead man cannot stand."

West - "Was this hands on experience?"

Dr. Bao - "My hands was not on, my eye was on."

Thanks for the soundbites. I have always loved the unintentional humor that comes out in the somewhat stylized and formalistic dialogue of testimony.

Defense is expected to move for a directed verdict.

I doubt it will be granted, but it absolutely should be. The state has in no way established anything to support Murder 2.

The LA riots started on a Wednesday. Are riots more or less likely if the Judge acquits on a Friday?

Prosecution is asking for the Judge to let them proceed on Manslaughter. This was probably their goal from the beginning when they overcharged Z. They should be reprimanded for playing these kinds of games when they knew they couldn't prove Murder 2.

Old Piob was right.

Denied, big surprise.

Judge is now trying to pressure Defense to start their case, at 4:53 PM on a friday.

Is it just my lack of knowledge in these sort of proceedings or does the judge seem to have a hard on against the defense? Also, could the pros help out...what would be the "direct evidence" that Z committed murder the judge speaks of?

That's pretty bullshit to have the defense begin their case this late on a Friday. Judge knows the Jury would give more weight to Defense case if they started fresh Monday morning.

EDIT - It does not appear the Judge has gone past 5PM during any previous day of testimony, but now she pushes the Defense to put on multiple witnesses on a Friday afternoon? The Judge knows the Jury is not paying attention, this is pretty egregious.

She's got a medium chub against the defense. Not a raging Viagra-erection, but more like morning wood on a Sunday morning after one has had too much to drink Saturday night.
