killing Trayvon - Page 221

So I heard (but have not confirmed) that the State's opening statement made it sound like they're not going to call Martin's lying girlfriend, period.

That's interesting. As I understood it, she was pretty much all they had.

Many times I have said that Z is 100% morally wrong but I can see where there is a valid chance that he will be found "not guilty" of the 2nd degree murder charges. Many liberals and blacks will find an acquittal outrageous. Many conservatives and law and order types will feel it outrageous that Z was charged with 2nd degree murder at all.

I'm not a conservative or a law and order type. I hate cops. I hate private security forces. But the simple fact is Z's acts should not be criminal. If being an aggressive douche was illegal we'd have no professional sports and everyone would spend their off hours knitting tea kettles.

I've heard the same. Defense can still call her if they want.

"The basic question for the jury is: Did Mr. Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, murder Mr. Martin, an unarmed black 17-year-old, or did he shoot in self-defense?"

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/25/us/zimmerman-trial.html?_r=0

The NY Times should be crucified.

"On the night of Feb. 26 last year, Mr. Martin, a high school student carrying only a phone, a soft drink and a bag of Skittles, encountered Mr. Zimmerman, an armed neighborhood watchman. Minutes later, Mr. Zimmerman was on his back, with gashes on his head and a broken nose, and Mr. Martin lay dead."

Seriously. Crucified. Upside down.

"In part because there were no witnesses and Mr. Zimmerman’s injuries support his account, the prosecutors face a much higher legal hurdle than defense lawyers do."

Jesus fucking Christ, crucified upside down in front of their families. It's called the presumption of innocence you assholes.

Has anyone else noticed that CNN, the inventors of "white Hispanic," has ceased to use this term? Now it's, "Zimmerman, who identifies himself as Hispanic..."

"Don West followed with opening statements on behalf of Zimmerman, offering a knock-knock joke that fell flat before the stone-faced jurors.
"Who's there?" West said. "George Zimmerman. George Zimmerman who? Okay, good. You're on the jury."
Prior to the failed attempt at humor, West told a somber version of events, one that portrayed his client as a victim who acted to save his own life.

Ooof. I should move to Eff El A. I'd make a mint by not telling knock knock jokes to juries.

Ojfc. Apparently he's not a member of NACDL. Rule 7, never tell the jury you're making a joke.

Guilty as sin. Everything else aside, it's a middle aged white man following around a black teen.

That alone is f'ed up.

It can't be self defense if you're acting like a racist psycho.

"The defendant claims that while Trayvon Martin was on top of him. He said, 'You are going to die to night,' Well ladies and gentlemen you are going to hear from people out there. Nobody heard that," said Guy. "We are confident that at the end of this trial you will know in your head, in your heart, in your stomach that George Zimmerman did not shoot Trayvon Martin, because he had to, he shot him for the worst of all reasons -- because he wanted to."

Conclusion to the prosecution's opening remarks. Looks like they're not even going for some sort of "things got out of hand and it's Zimmerman's fault" but that he actually went out looking to shoot someone.

He's a genius seeding a Strickland v. Washington claim.

Or a total idiot.
