Hard to say . . he was at least walking around "outside." Acting "strange."
Whatever that means.
Might have been in someone's yard, might have just cut across I don't think we'll ever know. Not that it really matters.

It's a crappy apartment complex. People don't have yards.

Heresy!

Next you're going to tell us Zimmerman's not a 250lb white guy?

Does this case remind anybody else of "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll"--the Dylan song about the vile aristocrat who beats a poor maid to death and gets six months because she was black and he was white and rich?

uhhhh... that is a loathsome case, the details of which are much more prolonged and disturbing.... frown.gif

Oh, I don't know. If you read the real facts of the case it sheds new light on why Zantzinger "responded to his deed with a shrug of the shoulder."

In case you're too lazy to google it, the gist of it is that the song insinuates Zantzinger beat the woman to death with a cane, when what he really did was give her a heart attack by berating her. He did hit her with a cane, once, but it was a plastic toy and didn't actually hurt her.

of course I'm familiar with it and that's exactly why it's so disturbing... violence can easily kill a person, but killing someone by simply spewing virulent hate is far more tragic in a way. also, Z was unapologetic to the end, even claiming that Dylan was a lying SOB or something to that effect.

confused.gif Berating someone to death is worse than beating them to death? Or are you saying the circumstances are more tragic because they are more unusual?

You can berate somebody to death?

Several articles I read stated that he was along the side of some townhomes or something like that - apparently taking a shortcut in the rain.

You can, but it wouldn't make much of a song.

Words have great power, and that is why they need to be regulated. Though to be sure, words don't kill people, people do.
