Style Forum's golden age?

Being a relatively new member here I was wondering what the real senior members think was the Style Forum's golden age for both comradelier and shared knowledge. Would you say it is sometime recent or closer to the opening of this forum?

As someone who's lurked for a long time and posted for a reasonable amount of time, I think that the amount of information re: construction that was flying around earlier on was impressive, but that the overall "community" continues to grow more interesting as new members sign up and personalities/tastes develop. There are a lot of questions that can simply be referred to the various source docs that have been created by the forum.

I'd say it was somewhere in the middle (circa 2003-5)

one aspect I've always found amusement in is how there are some posters who dish out advice/opinions and it's the equivalent of a virgin giving out advice/opinons on being a good lover. Sure, he looks at a lot of porn, jacks off daily, has been to strip clubs and gotten a lapdance, and MIGHT have even gotten a handjob once.....but he's never had sex and he's dishing out advice on being Casanova.

The only reason I keep coming back to SF is because it continually evolves and has an incredibly diverse and knowledgable group of people to learn from and bounce ideas off of.

In GS's vein, I've always found the gravity and seriousness some posters have about something like a button hole to be amusing. Relax, they're clothes, go and have fun with it.

That is a perfect description of Bergdorf Goodwill.

Around 2004 was when things really started to take off. When was the NYT article? 2004/2005?

Hey! No calling me out like that! I demand a free suit now

edit: Oh, wait, Jon is probably the virgin that you're referring to. Nevermind then. Carry on.

I wonder if his girlfriend is also a virgin? It'd be cute if they lost it to each other.

In a few years, we'll all look back and remember one thing:

SF pre-vanity vs. SF post-vanity

for me, all the hoopla over ernest' 'brown is for farmer' statement would have to be the highlight of the SF golden age for me.
