I saw those earlier today on the Leather Soul site, and I have to say I don't like them. I am as big an EG fan as anyone here but these look like blobs - shell is not something I think EG does well.

Meh. Each their own. To me EG shell is the best in the business, much better finished than Alden for example.

I am not an Alden fan either. I think the Carmina's look better, but, I have to admit, I have no interest in either.

There's been some serious deliveries on this thread lately. Sharing is caring!

That is magnificent.

One issue I have with the EG cordovan kind of agrees with a previous poster's dislike of EG shell products. Because shell has that characteristic way of creasing, it is perhaps better to select a design where the vamp has at least some stitching detail so that the smoother areas of the shell has the opportunity to show off the rather more attractive characteristic "shine".

The most stunning EG "crup" was the Brummel in whiskey made for Leffot during 2011. Another is the Sandringham in either whiskey or brandy or cognac crup, every shoe a true masterpiece.

Wholecut cordovans are not as attractive as calf or other hides, but that is just a matter of taste and opinion.

I thought this would be fun since most celebrities don't wear SF approved shoes...

That's awesome! Since you didn't mention it, I'm assuming your guys in Beverly Hills escaped without getting backhanded?

Depends if Bryan tried to do more than a bro-hug :D

On the fence about picking up a pair of lightly used Dovers for $500... steep for used EG, even if they are in good condition?

how used? if its less than 5 wears then I'd go for it. assuming of course their are no other outstanding issues such as scratches, defects, etc
