Excuse me for bringing this up again. But am I the only one in this thread that lives under the impression that good shoe seconds cost closer to 450-500 GBP? I am convinced that people have stated this in this thread several times before. The reason was supposed to be that EG a couple of years ago increased their prices for seconds to try and stop all the eBay seller (or so I've been told).

This is all very confusing...

Nikola, Let me answer your post. I have no idea who you are, similarly you don't know me. As such how do you get to the point I let you down. I never agreed to do anything and where does it say in the forum rules we have to agree to help people half way across Europe at the drop of a hat. Potentially putting myself out of pocket.

What happens if I pick up a pair of shoes for you, they have a fault, I think it's okay, but you don't, then what, you want your money back, I really don't need that hassle at the moment?

I was sorry I hadn't answered you I saw your PM when I was busy at work and it slipped my mind until today when I called the EG store, however with such a poor and aggressive attitude I'm glad I ignored you.

I personally would never ask anyone to proxy anything for me so personally I would never do it for someone else unless it was a real friend not some random on the internet.

You could get a return flight from Germany to the UK for about €100, why not travel to Northampton and buy your own.

Hoodog, I only tried on a couple of pairs and looked at a couple of others but they were in the price range I mentioned.
However when I asked about the factory sales and asked if the prices were the same I was told the current prices are still at the discounted rates (the last ssle was only a frw weeks ago) so the higher price comments may be correct.

Beside that, I am sorry if you, or anyone else got offended, as a matter of case, I knew a guy from here will be visiting the Factory shop, I have sent him a PM, offered to transfer Paypal payment in advance + 50 EUR for the favor, and he didn't even reply to me.

That's why I wrote that. Though, I realize it was childlish and stupid, as it looked I was talking to all members. No one is obligated to do anything for anyone here, It's just I felt a little let down from a forum member I share the same passion and that he was in a position to help me.

I APOLOGIZE AGAIN.

50 euro isn't that much of an incentive though, a trip from London would be 3 hours or so round trip plus the hassle of searching for shoe, confirming fault is ok (I don't know how many proxies I've tried to do and people said they would respond and then don't until hours after), then packing shoes, going to post office. So total investment of 4 hours for 50 euros? Sure they may have been going just to look but it's still a lot of work. And like others have mentioned what happens if they open PayPal dispute / credit card chargeback?

lol not to mention the 30-40 gbp to just get there by train from london. i would do it only as a favor in the hope that it would be returned in the future

i find it ironic that nikola would call someone out for not accepting his 50 euro to proxy so that he could in turn save 300GBP. Inherently, id imagine those that can afford $800-1200 shoes, cant afford to be bothered by a 50 euro proxy offer. SMH

hey no hard feelings, i typically overreact. anyone visiting the factory is also someone thats passing through northampton so i imagine them having the facilities (shipping supplies, return address, etc) to even accommodate a proxy even if they wanted to

My wife just left for a conference this morning. I could have scheduled an appointment, flew across the pond, and visited the factory; however, UK time is ahead and I would not have made it because of it!

I need to petition one of the professional associations I'm in to hold a convention at Northampton... I wonder if they have a nice convention center? lol

If you're there I can recommend a good Somali barbour. For someone who'd previously never cut "white" people hair, I thought he did a phenomenal job

Nah Doc, don't hold your breath! Nothing approaching a conference centre there!

@andermt

I understand your views on this matter, and I am not 'judging' you by any means.

Being that you are a recent member here, (not that I am old) I can imagine how strange might have my "assistance needed call" sounded to you.

If you have noticed- I didn't mention you specifically in any of my posts here on board, so you could have just move on and get over this when you didn't reply on my PM in the first place,
instead of calling me aggressive and saying that you are now glad you didn't help me.

No one here is, of course, obligated to help anyone, it's just that I thought if a fellow member sharing the same passion is in a position to help, that he will, and that he will later could count on a returning the favor.

I apologize, once again, to you and anyone else offended by my words.

The 50 EUR or 41 GBP was more of a symbolic "provision". It represents a little more than 10% of a value of a rejected shoe.

I am aware of a airplane option, it's just that I cannot easily take the whole day off work and travel to Northampton blindly -looking for one pair of Chelsea Oxford shoe and risking they do not have it in my size.

I wish the EG factory shop is doing a phone orders like John Lobb I bought several rejects from, but they simply don't.

I hope we could just carry on with the thread and enjoy they EG shoes.

I wish you wear them in good health and enjoy them fully. They are real beauties.

Also, English is not my first language, so I might sound raw sometime.

Not to derail the thread, but several members mentioned phone orders at the John Lobb factory store. Anyone willing to share their protocol, phone number, and pricing? Thanks in advance - have you been pretty successful in specifying models? Is there someone to email? Much appreciated.

@CHRK33

It would be wiser if you have asked this on a JL thread, but who am I to talk about wise things today anyway.. ;)

For the other interested members who ended up on your question here, I will reply and inform that is completely possible to order the JL rejects over the phone by credit card or by Bank Account transfer.

Just call the: 00 44 1604 77 77 75 and ask for Ms. Pauline Foulger.

She is a lovely lady working there, always willing to assist.

I usually wait at least 2 months before a reject show up in my size/color/model .. So prepare your self for a waiting period if they don't have it already in stock.

Also their rejects are pricey. Starting from around 440 GBP for a main line, and around 600 GBP for a prestige line like Philipp II and Chapel.
