Correct. That's the policy EG has. All makers have different policies.

Awesome. I gotta say though that I am quite confused about the use of the number system for the Shannons. I've heard of the Shannon II and Shannon III which have slight variations to where brogue-ing is, but I have not heard of or seen the Shannon IV through VII. Leffot is ordering the Shannon IX for F/W 2014. Why is EG willing to make so many variations of this boot - are they willing to do that to other models if there is enough interest through a GMTO?

The Shannon VIII looks quite attractive - looks like a hybrid between the Shannon and Galway. With all these boot options need to make a decision - Group MTO or Shannon or Galway.

The Shannon VIII pre-order which seems to have B1-soles, made me wonder. Now I'm trying to figure out EG's different leather soles:

1. Single
2. B1 - 1.5 soles tapering to 1 at the waist
3. HAF - 2 (double) soles tapering to 1 at the waist
4. Double - 2 soles front to end.

Can anyone confirm? Add? @Leaves perhaps?

That Shannon VIII also had me daydreaming of a dress make-up: black & nutmeg suede. Still, there are so many other EGs I'd like shog[1].gif

One more for the list!

There are 16 different Shannon patterns, all slightly different from the other.

Correct. Double leather is called H/A. This is a complete list of EG soles, hopes it helps.
  • L1 soles - Single leather weight for casuals
  • N1 soles - Single leather weight
  • B1 soles - slightly thickner than N1 soles but not has heavy as H/A soles (double)
  • H/A - Double leather weight
  • H/AF soles - Double leather weight with forepart middles (narrower in the sole waist)
  • C/B1 - Medway soles and heels (rubber)
  • C/B2 - Dainite soles and heels (rubber)
  • C/B3 - Ridgeway soles and heels (rubber)
  • R1 soles - New single rubber soles - has replaced the Thames soles

Wait...

B1 is thicker than single (N1) sole AND runs front to end, so the entire length of the shoe?

Would a B1F-version (Thicker than single, tapering to single at the waist) exist? Similar to H/AF?

Thanks for the list though. Very useful.

Very useful info thank you. Would you please post this under EG MTO section of your web site so we have it for the future reference. This thread can get little clogged sometimes.

I ordered a pair of Galways from Brooks Brothers today and should have them in time to verify my size in time to order the MTO. I've tried the 888 on in an 8.5UK and it was a tad short in the toe box. Just to be clear, the BB leather and suede is on the 82 last? Dang, I didn't realize when I ordered that this was in US sizing, so I ordered a 8UK/9US and the only other option is a 9UK/10US, I normally wear a 9.5US. Suggestion while I still have time to change my order?

Forgot the name of this model it's not Chelsea but something like exmoor, elmsley or exeley. Esteemed member aportnoy told me once but I have since forgotten.

D 202 dark oak (prefer E but these were an eBay score at price too good to pass up)
