Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

As you can imagine we have a lot of snow in Stockholm and it stays for 3-4 months, in best case it's solid ice but worst is the slush with salt in it, the stress on the leather is significant. I use pig skin boots or grain boots for these days because although I take good care of my boots there is always some superficial damage done to them. I find that it does not become as apparent with a grained or textured material. But we have an extreme climate, I'm guessing you guys don't have to put your shoes through the same kind of strain that I have to.

^To be fair, most of my boots are grained or gorse leather...

I'm a bit disappointed with my new Galways as even a few drops of rain will cause 'spots' on the Dark Oak that are quite hard to remove. I don't want to have to re-dye them after every every small splash.
Gonna try some Obenauf now and see if that helps.

That's not good. Doesn't the polish give some protection?

I get those spots on my C&J Skyes, although not as much now since dosing them with Obenauf's. I used LP on all of the Galways posted earlier as a matter of course.

Nope, its as if the top layer of finish just 'lets go' where it gets wet. Havent seen this before.

Are they all on the same last? Any comments on how 64 last compares to other EG lasts?

This happens when they get wet. This was the first time round but the second time the same thing happened, just from a little rain.

The two closest are on the E 64 last, then the next pair are (I think) on the F 64 last (not marked) and the further pair are on the now-defunct F 25 last.

No idea of how they compare to other lasts as I tend to stick to bulkier lasts in general as they suit my style, build and purpose better. The boots shown all fit TTS, however.

Meh, I think I can handle it. I can imagine this would be a problem for someone buying his first pair of greens though.

That looks like some serious chemical reaction - you wasn't experimenting something in the lab...

If it's simply raindrops - then contact EG for total refund + shipping costs and compensation for emotional distress.

't was just water. I'll do some experimenting tmr with tap water; see what happens.
