JL does not have the variety of EG. Additionally, their MTO program is very limited. With EG, the possibilities are (almost) endless. There are literally tens of thousands of different permutations of their shoes that you could create. If there was a similar thread for JL I'd be surprised to see models and make-ups that I have not seen before. Whereas, I'm a huge EG fan and in these few pages I've seen 10+ make-ups that I had not imagined before. Green suede Cardiffs FTW!!

My bad. They must have just raised the price which had been $997 just a few weeks ago. I wonder if the trees are now included. They had been selling them separately.

Too bad. No longer the bargain they had been.

I see Sky Valet upped their price as well...guess I should have done better research! shog[1].gif

My apologies.

EG has raised their prices so I'd imagine that had a ripple effect on what the stateside vendors are selling them at. The shame (for me) is most of those stores only carry up to size 12US [if that] and I need a 12.5 ffffuuuu.gif

Edward Green now has an encouraged retail price for the US market.  I've heard it's monitored and its unlikely that any stores will discount stock shoes unless they are closing their account or discontinuing a style.  Most shoes start around $1040 without shoe trees.  Add $130 with tress.

Brooks Brothers Corporate membership is 15% off for models sold by Brooks.

Add to that sometimes Amex gives a discount on gift certificates (last winter it was 7500 for a 100 gift cert instead of 1000) and you can get to 36% off.

there's tons of JL on sale, deep, if you know where to look. JL doesn't fit my foot well - and frankly, I personally prefer EG styling.

JL does have some nice looking models though. and Mr. Porter had 50% off many JLs for their FF members a while back. I've sold several JLs on here too. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I would have thought the complete opposite. JL continuously comes out with new, never before seen models. Some are nice, some are just complete disasters as evidenced by their "spirit of the capital" collection. In any case, ill probably give EG another try as I consolidate my shoe wardrobe (i.e. quality over quantity)
