Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy - Page 285

Contrast colored balmoral boots are not versatile at all. The colors are too casual for the formal design akin to using tweed fabric for morning dress.

And formal dove suede/canvass shaft with black calf balmoral boots are only good but not formal enough with morning dress.

Galway on the other hand is useful in many situations and configurations.

Are all Shannon contrasting by the way?

I'm sure you can have it uniform. Not my Shannons but I have C&J and DC Lewis with the same materials for the uppers and shafts.

Just to get in on the Galway v. Shannon debate here is an example (IMO) of where the Shannon is more casual than the Galway. I wear the Shannon with jeans - never the Galway. I admit though that these are not your typical Shannon boot.

The EG Westminster on the 888 is one of my favorite shoes. I now have 4 pairs - each on a different type of leather. All very distinct from one another IMO. Two I acquired recently and one I just got back from EG after a recraft. I'll post about the recraft soon.

From left to right: Mahogany Country Calf, Navy Shell Cordovan, Coffee Suede, Cloud Calf (thanks to Malfordoflondon)

I would absolutely wear that Galway with a smart pair of jeans.

Just got three pairs back from a recraft. Amazing work done by EG. Solidified my love of the brand. I was surprised by how quickly they turned them around also - about 2.5 months from the states and back.

I'm the complete opposite. I'd definitely wear the Galway with jeans but never that pair of Shannons.

Agreed. The suede is not enough to make it casual. The design is still very, very formal. Aside from the visible eyelets, that I still dislike.

No all 888.

I believe suede generally lends itself to the casual side of dress. All things being equal the galway is the more versatile of two.

Cw the Westminster in dark oak is next on my list.
