I suppose you will find out exactly what color the Aksels are upon delivery of the pair you ordered.  Please let me know, once they arrive.  I did see the pair on eBay, and I recognize they are the same style.  I simply cannot tell if the pair at DSW is indeed Dark Oak.

FYI, Ralph Lauren sold a run of Edward Green shoes within the last few years that were largely Edwardian, Burnt Pine, and Hazel. They had a few styles left this past winter at the Rhinelander Mansion store. I believe this run included the Aksel, or a very similar oxford style, that was not Dark Oak.

I really hope your pair of Aksels are Dark Oak, or Burnt Pine at the least! These are some of the lowest prices I have encountered recently on Edward Green shoes. Thus, I am sure some of this stock will quickly reappear on eBay for healthy markups.

Cheers.

The Aksel's from DSW are Hazel. Got my pair today. Actually a welcome surprise for me - I thought they were going to be dark oak. They are slightly lighter than dark oak. When I say slightly I mean very slightly. I have 9 pairs in dark oak and if you told me these were dark oak I'd probably believe you. There is some variance in dark oak and my Beaulieu's in dark oak are extremely close to these in Hazel. My first pair in Hazel and it is a great color. Thanks for the PSA.

If you are up for it, you can just as easily walk around town as I did. Northampton isn't very large

Excellent, very helpful advice. Walking is allegedly good for you, so as long as the weather is decent, that’s my go-to plan.

Great, thanks for sharing that PDF. Good advice on calling ahead - I am assuming much like in some other parts of Europe, the factories shut down for a few weeks in the summer months.

Can you confirm if they are on a 'D' or 'E' last? Thanks!

You have room to pick up a pair in 6.5/7E don't you? Small shoes do have benefits! Enjoy your trip and let us know how it goes. Been trying to convince my fiance to have our honeymoon there... laugh.gif

I am trying to decide on the last for a MTO pair of Dovers - any strong opinions of 202 vs 606? Much appreciated!

I got mine in 606 last. I find it very comfortable and suitable for a country walking shoe like this.
