Hi everyone, I've contacted EG for some clarification and just received an e-mail. I decided to give them a call to discuss the matter. The main outcome is this:
- The pice list is several years old and far from accurate at this moment
- EG definately has no intention of doing collective deals
- There is something strange about the entire story; several factors dont stack up. (Eg. (no pun intended) supposedly the list was given by a Jermyn Street employee with a French accent. There are no Jermyn Street employees with French or similar accents)
These (old) prices give a distorted view of value as retailers still have several expenses (VAT, rent, staff salaries, etc.) which a consumer will easily (want to) overlook seing the ex factory prices.
To be honest, this outcome doesn't surprise me at all. Edited by Crat - 5/22/13 at 7:45am
Just got an email from a Nigerian prince, who said he has 1,000 pairs of EG Dovers - all new and in dark oak antique - trapped in the country and needs to get them out. If you provide your bank account information, he can send them to you for $75 a pair. Interested parties should contact NAMOR.
