I can't speak for the Camdens, don't have a pair, but I can heartily endorse the Rosewood CC Newmarkets. Horses for courses, but if you like the leather on the Newmarkets I don't know if it's worth the additional MTO premium to get the same leather in the Camden. Personally I like the more boot-ish Newmarket.

I'm trying to figure out EG sizing. It seems they mark their shoes up .5 from UK to US (i.e., UK 8.5 is US 9). I always thought most makers mark up full size (i.e. UK 8.5 would be US 9.5). Further complicating things, they have their UK 8.5 / US 9 marked EU 43. Doesn't US 9 usually translate to EU 42?

Hi @mosy,

If there was a conversion that simple I'd tell you! Generally I take people down one full size, but only go 1/2 size myself. I will say that an 890 or 915 can be a bit narrower and 606 and 202 wider, so that can affect sizing. It also depends on your frame of reference for sizing. There is a lot of advice out there, but nothing works as well as going into a good store, working with a knowledgeable salesman, and buying a pair you'll love.

I fit a 7.5 in the chelsea with thin dress socks.  I'm thinking about getting the windermere cordovan derby.  If I plan of wearing thick socks with these should I size up to an 8?

Search this thread for a recent discussion of the differences between the Newmarket and Camden. It's there.

In my experience, it is better to increase the width oh the shoe instead of going up in length if you are planing on wearing thicker socks.

I tried it, didn't work... width before lenght in my case.  Bit frankly you'll really only know once you've worn the shoe at least a dozen times. Maker and last plays a big part, on EG 202 this was more forgiving than on 82 or 606.

Thank you! Definitely a classic EG staple IMO. I picked these up at Brooks Brother's on corporate day.
