Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy - Page 1795

Thanks your input everyone! That definitely clears up a lot of nebulous and curbs my expectations.

I'm not one to beat a dead horse or harbor passive aggressive feelings but it's more about pro-active communication and less about the wait. Comparing EG to Alden 'rare shell' pre-orders/wait-lists - 10 months is drop in the bucket.

The alden thing is a bit maddening now a days like you i feel as if acquiring EG's is much easier to do in the grand scheme of things.

Sometimes I'm happy that I don't spend more time here learning of all these sales... but.....it always leaves me with a bit of disappointment when I hear of them afterwards...Once again...Nice grab...enjoy.

Lack of communication is extremely frustrating and unfortunately I was unable to get any feedback until after the second QC failure in my particular circumstance. Based on what I've experienced and read this is kind of the norm when dealing with EG even through a retailer. I think EG is more focused on making shoes and less so on comunicating what's going on. However if your shoes or boots require a third build you might be able to find out what's going on, but then again......

Would I be the only that would still expect top notch service (communication, QC, meeting timelines, etc) along with the quality product at this price point? I mean EG is by far not the only player at this level, with many at more attractive prices arguably offering a much better value. It just seems strange to me to do business with this sense of entitlement in 2016, and doing as much as communicating that longer delays are to be expected is simply common courtesy. Not to mention having something remade a third time...again, at this price point you'd expect some QC.

I would agree with most of this...while keeping in mind that perfection is not part of the human condition...at the moment EG has been able to continue as is...it will depend on consumer patience as to how long said situation will continue to exist. The fact remains that their shoes are fetching over a grand a pop and people are biting for more. There appears to be no motivating factor for EG to step up QC & CS.

You mention competitors...but we see some of the same issues with other brands, don't we? Vass is not know for being perfect. I've seen issues mentioned with st. Crispins to include a current discussion on the Crispin thread. I don't consider Carmina in the same league but they are (were?) a mess when they hit international/global status. I did a GMTO that was 3-4 late arriving. I put in a large order of 5 pairs which was a complete disaster in both QC & CS..I swore I would never order from them directly again. AE is known more for their seconds than their actual line and that speaks loads as to QC (although CS is supposedly outstanding). I've written Alden and never got a response. I wrote & called Cleverley about 5 times over a shoe they were suppose to make..each time I got the "we'll let you know" response & I finally gave up on the exact shoes & dealing with Cleverly in general (I still want another 2-3 pairs of Cleverly but will shop elsewhere).

And which definition of QC & CS are we working under? Yours? Mine? EG? etc? I've seen complaints I would find minor & I've seen people accept that which I would complain about.

As for my experience with EG...I've had no quality issues on any of my 6 pairs. When I wrote the London store they responded in a timely manner, includes photos, pricing, etc. I wrote the hq in Northampton and again got a timely response to my enquiry...so for me...I see complaints & will approach further EG purchases with a bit more caution...but I haven't personally experienced any issues with the brand & therefore have no hard reason to discontinue my patronage.

What is it you would expect their base clientele to do beyond the general choices allowed the consumer (refund, exchange, cancel order, discontinue purchasing)? I'm not saying people are happy with waits & QC issues...but they do seem to put up with it & come back for more.

All that bring said...I do know of at least 2 stores that have decided to discontinue their business relationship with EG...

I have recently spoke with one of the European stores upon their EG Trunk Show, and they have advised me that despite of that, I would have to pay a surcharge for a 202 F last Burgundy Antique Chelsea Oxford .. And quoted me a 950 GBP (795 GBP is regular Store price) . Was the SA wrong?

Chelsea comes stocked on the 82 and 202. Sounds they are quoting you for an mto charge for the burgundy antique finish.

My concern actually was if I am entitled to a free of charge MTO during the Trunk Show or not ..

Yea typically speaking stores will drop an MTO charge during trunk shows at least the ones that I patronage.
I cant speak for all stores though, and certainly they dont have to, and may not. I have heard of some stores offering free shoe trees at trunk shows but still have an MTO fee (i would rather have no MTO fee).

Pretty sure that good QC is the reason they were remade a third time. Otherwise they would have shipped the first or second pair.
