You and I are the same size. I recently tried on the TG73 and the MH71 and found them both to be just awful in a UK8.5E. The forefoot was overly tight and the heel was much more loose by comparison. That said, if I went up a width it would only expound the heel cup issue. The length fit fine however, maybe even a bit long. Both lasts had a similar fit, the only real difference was the toe shape. Additionally, and this is pure personal taste, I found them to be overly feminine and elvish. I think they would pair well on a slender gent with a very slim fit suit...but for muscular or larger builds, you'd need a spray tan and gold chains to complete the look. Not for me - 3/10, would pass.

Thanks MrVenneri. I understand most of members here size up 0.5 from EG to GG MH71 (do not even know if its the closest last to 606) and some even take a wider F width.

TtownMD, any other experience would be much apreciated.

PS.-I thought GG heel seat would be in the narrow side.

Zapasman I own both 10+ of EG & G&G shoes, they both work very well for me. I am US 9.5D close enough to D width I went down to 9UK E width fits me like a glove. I take same size on TG73 last which is my favorite last & take same size on MH71 last. Also very good last & user feet friendly. In my opinion I feel EG run larger. I originally tried Dover 606 last on 9UK E width. It was huge and I had to size down to 8.5Uk E width. Since then have stuck to that size. Length & width is all fine you have to try it out if you can. There are general guide line to follow like going down half for both brand from your US size. But when you try on the shoe you would be able to tell if it works for you or not. I would say do your research & then pull a trigger. Thrope & glenco are crazy good icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Congrats Ben!  You'll love them, rainy/cold day today so I wore another pair of Galways (shearling lined pair to keep me warm. lol), but I'll see what I can do tomorrow or over the weekend for you

I respect your personal taste but say what?! bwahahah... GG TG73 and MH71 are one of the best looking lasts. I think Alden LWB gunboats might be the perfect and not too feminine peepwall[1].gif

@Zapasman I'm 8E UK in EG 606/202 and went with 8F for GG MH71 feminine Thorpe.

Haha. I figured that comment would ruffle some feathers...but that's just one mans opinion and by no means any sort of stylistic guideline. The shrink-wrap fit and slightly curved forefoot coupled with that squared toe just completely turn me off. Personally I'm a fan of the 82 after I finally got the fitment correct. I like sleek...just not extreme euro sleek.

Ironically I just sold my fleet of gunboats (ravello, whiskey, and cigar)! If they were any wider and chunkier I'd have been able to walk on water. :)

Too bad you're not my size. smile.gif I actually have 5 of Alden's LWB. I've tried to talk myself into selling 2-3 of them as I don't get enough wear with all of them, in addition to my other shoes.

G&G and EG totally fits my office wear though. EG are definitely more versatile while my G&G tends to work better with my more Italian/slimmer suits.

Dovers the past three days now, I am officially obsessed. I guess to be fair I was already obsessed with just my doak pair but loving the delapre pair.

EG want list goes like this (long term goals haha):

Galway - Walnut CC/ doak E82

Galway - Rosewood CC E82 or E202

Newmarket - Rosewood CC E82 (maybe, really want a chelsea but maybe a different color grain if I get the rosewood Galway)

Dover - Tobacco suede E202 or 606

Dover - Rosewood CC E202 or 606

Piccadilly - maybe a suede, maybe Mink or maybe even doak (I love loafers so it only seems right to have this on the list)

Westminster - Mahogany CC

@Burzan The Rosewood CC is mostly on  64 or 58 last

Fransboone has it on E82 and I fell in love with it. I know the 64 last is super popular but I think I would want a last a little more versatile in the business casual setting. Would probably have to go MTO for it if FB doesn't restock at some point.
