Factory Sale Report
Yesterday was my first ever trip to Northampton, and it proved to be quite an expensive trip! I took the 7:04am train from London Euston, arriving at the EG factory at approximately 9am, only to find I was 20th in the queue. Upon arrival you are shown to a waiting room, which appears to double as the staff canteen during normal working hours. I had to wait for a further half an hour before I was allowed into the stock room; they only allow a certain number of customers access simultaneously, very sensibly so as it's a small space.
It was clear straight away that there was an excellent selection in sizes 9.5 and 10 - I could have easily used up my quota of five pairs. I also took some time to check on one smaller size - 6.5 - for a forum member to whom I was proxy, alas there was nothing available which matched his requirements. I cannot provide information on any other sizes I'm afraid. Prices were a little higher than the July sale in Notting Hill: standard shoes £460, Dover £525, boots £545, Nevis £610 (minus 20% across the board). Most customers seemed to be purchasing just a pair or two. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
My damage is as follows:
Chelsea, Dark Oak Antique, 82 last
Asquith, Dark Oak Antique, 888 last
Dover, Chestnut Antique, 606 last
Nevis, Chestnut Antique, 606 last
