Skoaktiebolaget shipped them using TNT, but UPS delivered them here. The extended ship time though has turned me off of Skoaktiebolaget for future orders. Other dealers have a much quicker delivery time. Leffot-1 day; Leathersoul and Leatherfoot -2 days; and as I said before both Fosters and Cleverley had them delivered next day via Fed Ex.

When I ordered my Galways from Westley Richards in England, I received them next day (to the east coast). They shipped via TNT. I also received a bill from TNT about a week or two later.

Given the overall exemplary service I receive from Skoak I can gladly deal with a few additional days of transit as the trade off.

i would like to make clear I heard this story from one galway owner so it is not clear to me what he did with the boots. Since other people don't have this issue it could be a individual case.

Without a doubt. I don't mind the slow boat from Sweden.

They've been very responsive to SF, with MTO's and such. Patrik appears to go out of his way in regards to looking for things the SF membership wants. The Zug boot, was and is something I really appreciated. Patrik also came through with the willow calf leather that a number of members were looking for. Yes he makes his money this way, but then again he's coming through with what some of us are looking for.

I have nothing but exemplary service, and their prices are extremely EG friendly. I've yet to pay extra delivery and customs fees, and I am willing to wait a couple of days for this convenience.

Well said, ddd. I couldn't have said it better, myself.

Yes, who knows how people are actually putting on and taking off. Even with shell, there isn't much give and I'm always careful it's not too tight inserting the foot. I think NAMOR has a photo of a busted shell seam.

There have also been people complaining about heel construction with some brands when it's obvious they are kicking one boot off with the other.

Well I'm from the old school, bite me once shame on you, bite me twice shame on me. When I pay for express delivery, and they gladly charge me for it, which they advertise ad 3 - 5 days, and it ends up taking 8 days, which is standard delivery time to the US, I feel cheated. And as for the customs charges, I don't know how you got lucky, but I paid my custom dues.

I am with you, Moosic. I would not pay for express delivery again, either.

I think ddd has never paid customs on this standard delivery purchases which come through USPS (neither have I). AT least that's what I got from his post.

I get your point, it's just that express delivery isn't something I've ever needed nor requested and based on your experience I knew it wasn't something I could reasonably expect from them. Your experience showed me that. I feel your pain, it's just that this weakness isn't something that is a big concern for me as expedited isn't something I require. In regards to the customs duties it maybe because the method they chose although it didn't really expedite the delivery, it still ended up costing you more because of the means (agent) in which it was delivered. It's also possible I've just been extremely lucky to this point. I really have no idea, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Your experiences and your expectations are different than mine and I get that. I'm sorry that it wasn't a great experience for you. I can't remember but did Skoak offer to make this right for you somehow? I mean the fact that the delivery was so slow.

Yup, that's the trick. I get hit on customs with everyone but USPS. Not paying for express delivery is the move here. Save $100 on customs and $50 or so on express shipping upgrade. I'm sure that the other retailers may be faster but getting my shoes 5 days faster isn't worth 15% markup on top of the already more expensive prices. Especially if you do MTO, I don't get waiting 6 months and not being able to wait an extra 3-4 days.

Off topic, but what the heck? Did he really injure his foot by putting on and taking off his shoes? You have to be joking, lol. I took him in the fourth too.

No, Skoaktiebolaget didn't seem to care when I raised it with them. I'm glad you had good customer experience with them, but I can't say he same.

I'd imagine that once it leaves the store, it is out of SkoAb's hands. I would have maybe gone back to the shipping co., but I highly doubt that would have gotten you anywhere, either.
