Would you care to share the sole configuration of this Galway prior to the resole, e.g. double leather, HAF, Dainite? Also how long have you been wearing them before they got to the state where a resole became necessary?

I'm just curious as to the lifetime of EG outsoles. My own 3 year old Galway on double leather seem to have plenty of sole wear left in them.

Hi gentles,

for dover, which last do you recommend? I know 606 is rather roomy.

202 works rather well and it's a better fit than the 606 for most from what I've heard, however I have no experience with the 606.

have both, 606 for sure. I really think stitched aprons look best on a soft square toe aka 606

The dover looks better on the 606 last imho.I think they should also fit similarly as the difference is only in the shape of the toe.

Both lasts are very nice for that Dover.  It was explained to me here that the 606 is a bit roomier and wider in the toe box and in my experience that is very true.  So should you have slightly wide ball/toes like me, just go for the 606 last. On my side, 8.5 E on the 606 is just perfect but 8.5 E on the 202 last it is a bit snug and narrow fit for my toes. I have tried the Dover on both lasts. Hope this helps.

Thank you gentles.

I'll take Dover in Doak on 606 last.

My pair of Beaulieu's in burgundy antique on the 82 last. Austerity wingtips are the way forward.

The colour varies considerably depending on the light, which gives the shoe a whole new dimension.
