Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy - Page 1528

See below for the current wear of my Galway's soles. I recon a resole is due, what do you guys think? Do you wear yours for much longer before having the soles replaced?

If anyone knows what E.G. charges for a boot resole, please let me know.

:)THANK YOU GUYS!! i DO have an open mind, and will listen to all advice!  i have tons of allen edmonds shoes, and SOME of them are quite nice!  the one Crockett and Jones I have is lighter weight, but has GREAT support for my high arch.  i think it is "better" than allen edmonds. i do NOT look down on anyone's choice of shoe..

to me, there is a large difference from $650 for C&J to twice that for Edward Green! i wear the C&J ONLY inside at work, never sees outside. more dumb questions:

1. from my reading, a leather CONDITIONER is important. do you agree?  i own allen edmonds leather condition and am going to buy that Saphir conditioner.  the Shoe Snob uses some mink oil conditioner. do you use one? how often?

2. which brand shoes do you guys own? which do you like?

would welcome ANY advice!

have a great Halloween!

Bick4 for conditioner really works well and it tends to minimize or reduce water spotting on Edward Green shoes and boots.

All kinds of different shoes and boots from various shoemakers, but Edward Green is my favorite. Their style, their Lasts, the models, their finishing, the materials they use, and the almost endless options available.

Do yourself a favor and go thru this entire thread when you get the opportunity. Its long, its lengthy, some of it's just fluff, but if your really interested in EG your bound to pick up more than a few things. Well worth your while and you'll gain more knowledge quicker that way.

No need to resole yet. Lots of life left.

Just becareful with width because EG E width = U.S. D width (for the most part, some last slightly narrower and others wider).

Trying on a pair or ordering with a return policy limits risk.

Your assumption is correct. Unfortunately, I don't have experience with any EG lasts. I have a high instep and pretty high volume foot, so i'm leaning towards the 8.5. Leffot recommended an 8.5UK (same as Trubalance) but Leather Foot in Toronto recommended an 8UK. I'm leaning towards an 8.5UK simply because of the high instep/high volume of my foot.

Bob, Mr. Sid, in Newton Center, stocks Edward Green. I would check them out as you're in the Boston area.

i own one pair of crockett and jones, and just ordered another.  i do like the first one, Drummond in 9 1/2 E

i always wanted to try edward green.  i consider myself a beginner.

1. should i buy from Leffot in new york? i live near Boston, i think there are no stores around here that have EG.
2. any model or last you recommend?  i have a bunion at the base of one big toe, shoe cannot be very tight around the ball of my foot.  the C&J shoes are great!

would love any advice!

thank you
