Yes, but the Chelsea is in the damn 82 last.

Anyway, not that anyone cares but I wanted to further report on my settlement with Leffot regarding the previous situation I had with them, which has been well documented a few pages ago.

I agreed to keep the 82 Last shoes they sent me wrongly and they, in return, refunded me US$150.

Leffot was very pro-active in admitting responsibility for the mistake made and also in making the offer of a refund. I did not ask for one at first, out of principle, as I did not want to create the impression that I was trying to squeeze them for a discount.

But I am now satisfied with the outcome and the matter is closed.

Cheers.

I have Chelsea model on the last 82 in Mocha Suede. I really do not understand this obsession with number # 82. I think 82 last may be appropriate for wingtips but it seems just pointy on the cap toe shoes. I like cap toe shoes on the round lasts.

Always love a good last comparison! It basically looks like 3 x 202 and 1 x 888 here. Is it just me or do all the sizes seems very small, like a size 7 in this photo?

I also go with option2 from dsmivtr's post.

Which is annoying as I own option 1, on an 82 (those pictured are I think an 888). But I also have a pair of black calf Galways (on a 202, a last I do not often favour), which are rather sublime in their own way.

Re: Fiddler, I am increasingly fond of the 82. It is a sort of EG takes on JLP last. And to my eye it is not a bad effort at producing something both classic and a bit leaner than the traditional 202 and variants. I agree it makes a fine brogue, but it also makes a very sleek captoe or plain toe.

I shall not bore the forum once more with a discussion of the merits of the 88 (88, not the imperfect 888) last.

Oh, alright, I shall briefly. It is in my view the finest last ever used by EG, a near-perfect evolution of the older very slightly "blobby" lasts towards a shape of Continental elegance without becoming faddish or over-styled.

So my heirarchy of current/recent EG shoe lasts is, currently:

88
82
888 and 202
